A negative electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, containing negative electrode active material particles, including silicon compound particles each containing a silicon compound (SiO: 0.5≤x≤1.6) and at least one or more of LiSiOand LiSiO, the material includes a phosphate, the negative electrode active material particles each have a surface containing lithium element, and a ratio m/msatisfies 0.02≤m/m≤3, where mrepresents a molar quantity of the lithium element and contained per unit mass of the particles, and mrepresents a molar quantity of phosphorus element contained per unit mass of the particles. Thereby, a negative electrode active material is capable of stabilizing an aqueous negative electrode slurry prepared in producing a negative electrode of a secondary battery, and capable of improving initial charge-discharge characteristics when the negative electrode active material is used for a secondary battery.

Methods for producing a negative electrode active material particle which includes a silicon compound particle containing a silicon compound that contains oxygen. The methods including preparing a silicon compound particle containing a silicon compound that contains oxygen; inserting Li into the silicon compound particle; and heating, while stirring, the Li-inserted silicon compound particle in a furnace to produce a negative electrode active material particle, wherein at least part of Si constituting the silicon compound particle is present in at least one state selected from oxide of Sito Sicontaining no Li, and compound containing Li and Sito Si.

A negative electrode active material includes: particles of negative electrode active material, the particles of negative electrode active material contain particles of silicon compound containing a silicon compound (SiO:0.5&#x2264;x&#x2264;1.6); the particles of silicon compound contain at least one kind or more of LiSiOand LiSiO; the particles of negative electrode active material contain LiCOand LiOH on a surface thereof; and a content of the LiCOis 0.01% by mass or more and 5.00% by mass or less relative to a mass of the particles of negative electrode active material and a content of the LiOH is 0.01% by mass or more and 5.00% by mass or less relative to the mass of the particles of negative electrode active material. Thus a negative electrode active material is capable of improving initial charge/discharge characteristics and the cycle characteristics when used as a negative electrode active material of the secondary battery.

A negative electrode active material contains a negative electrode active material particle which includes a silicon compound particle containing a silicon compound that contains oxygen. The silicon compound particle contains a Li compound, and at least part of Si constituting the silicon compound particle is present in at least one state selected from oxide of Sito Sicontaining no Li, and compound containing Li and Sito Si. A negative electrode active material is capable of increasing battery capacity and improving cycle characteristics and initial charge-discharge characteristics when the negative electrode active material is used for a secondary battery. A mixed negative electrode active material contains the negative electrode active material. A method produces a negative electrode active material particle which enables production of the negative electrode active material particle to be contained in the negative electrode active material as described above.

The present disclosure relates to a negative electrode active material including: particles of negative electrode active material, wherein the particles of negative electrode active material contain particles of silicon compound containing a silicon compound (SiO: 0.55&#x2264;x&#x2264;1.6), and the particles of silicon compound includes at least one or more kinds of LiSiOand LiSiO; the particles of silicon compound contain nickel; and, a mass of the nickel to a mass of the particles of negative electrode active material is 2 mass ppm or more and 100 mass ppm or less. Thus, when used as the negative electrode active material of a secondary battery, a negative electrode active material capable of improving the initial charge/discharge characteristics and cycle characteristics is provided.

A negative electrode active material contains particle of the negative electrode active material, wherein the particle of the negative electrode active material contains particle of a silicon compound which contains a silicon compound (SiO: 0.5&#x2264;x&#x2264;1.6), the particle of the silicon compound contains lithium, and the particle of the negative electrode active material has a total content rate of a polyphenylene compound component and a polycyclic aromatic component measured by TPD-MS of 1 ppm by mass or more and 4,000 ppm by mass or less. As a result, a negative electrode active material is capable of improving cycle characteristics and initial charge/discharge characteristics when it is used as a negative electrode active material of a lithium ion secondary battery.

Therefore, the negative electrode active material which is capable of improving the initial charge and discharge characteristics as well as the cycle characteristics upon using it as the negative electrode active material of a secondary battery is provided.
