A propeller shaft includes a shaft part and a a first yoke having a fixing portion, a connecting portion, a first yoke portion and a first concave portion. The connecting portion is provided apart from a first concave portion in the direction of the rotation axis of the shaft part. An outside diameter of the connecting portion is greater than an outside diameter of the shaft part in a radial direction of the rotation axis of the shaft part.

Propeller shaft and yoke structure of universal joint used for the propeller shaft

A propeller shaft includes a shaft part, a first yoke, a connecting portion, a first yoke portion, a first concave portion, and a second yoke having a flange and a second yoke portion. The flange has a bolt insertion hole into which a securing member is inserted, and is connected to a second shaft part of a vehicle side by the securing member. The second yoke portion is provided at the flange, and has a shape that extends in a direction of a rotation axis of the shaft part. A cruciform shaft couples the first yoke portion with the second yoke portion.

A propeller shaft has a first yoke having a fixing portion, a pair of first bifurcated yoke portions extending from one end portion of the fixing portion in an axial direction, and a first bearing hole formed at each first yoke portion and securing therein a first bearing that holds a cruciform shaft; a second yoke coupled to the first yoke through the cruciform shaft and secured to a predetermined member, and having a mounting flange, and a bolt insertion hole which is formed at the mounting flange and into which a bolt to secure the second yoke to the predetermined member is inserted; and a securing member securing the mounting flange of the second yoke to the predetermined member through the bolt by a fastening tool. Each first yoke portion is provided with a first concave portion that slides thereon an outer circumferential surface of the fastening tool.

A support device of a propeller shaft comprises an annular bracket fixed to a floor member of a vehicle body; an annular elastic member disposed in the annular bracket; an annular supporting structure disposed in the annular elastic member and rotatably supporting a cylindrical given portion of the propeller shaft through a ball bearing unit; and an annular seal member intimately disposed in an annular space defined between the annular supporting structure and the cylindrical given portion of the propeller shaft. One of outer and inner cylindrical surfaces of the annular seal member is in slidable contact with either one of an inner cylindrical surface of the annular supporting structure and an outer cylindrical surface of the cylindrical given portion of the propeller shaft. A rust-proofing member is further provided, which is disposed on either one of the inner cylindrical surface of the annular supporting structure and the outer cylindrical surface of the cylindrical given portion of the propeller shaft, to which the outer or inner cylindrical surface of the annular seal member directly and slidably contacts. The rust-proofing member is made of a rust-resistant material.

Support device for supporting propeller shaft and propeller shaft itself

A drive shaft for transmitting an engine revolution to a rear axle of a motor vehicle comprises, a first shaft comprising a first yoke fixed to an end of the first shaft, a second shaft comprising a second yoke fixed to an end of the second shaft. The second yoke being made of a metal plate by press-forming. A coupling is provided between the first yoke and the second yoke, the coupling having a high-rigidity in a rotating direction of the drive shaft and having an elasticity in an axial direction of the drive shaft.

Drive shaft

A shaft coupling includes an annular plate having a proper axial flexibility. The annular plate is formed with mounting holes. A first group of coupled portions are fixedly connected to an input shaft, whereas a second group of coupled portions are fixedly connected to an output shaft. The first and second groups of coupled portions are coupled with each other through the annular plate placed therebetween, so that the first and second groups of coupled portions circumferentially alternate with each other. The annular plate has coupling arm portions each extending between two adjacent mounting holes to absorb axial vibrations. A radial width of the coupling arm portion is dimensioned to be narrower than a radial width of a peripheral region of each of the mounting holes. A length of the coupling arm portion is dimensioned to be longer than a distance between the two adjacent mounting holes.

Flexible shaft coupling for vehicles

A shaft coupling structure for male and female shaft components of a vehicular propeller shaft includes a sleeve shaft having a substantially rigid first end, an annular flange formed therearound at a central location at which the sleeve shaft connects to a tube member, and a reduced diameter portion which extends from the flange into the tube portion. A plurality of splines are formed in the axial direction of the sleeve shaft and are interposed between an inner wall of the rigid first end and a stub yoke which is inserted into the first end for co-rotation therewith. Further, a grease cap, or other lubrication device may be provided at an end of the reduced diameter portion. Also, around the reduced diameter portion, between the inner wall of the tube and the outer side of the reduced diameter portion, a vibration damping device, as well as an insertion guide device may be provided for improving smoothness and reducing operational noise for the shaft coupling structure.
