A male connector (1) is provided for electrically interconnecting the conductors (6) of a flat flexible circuit (4) to the conductors (24) of a complementary mating connecting device (2). The connector includes a male body member (10) about which the flexible circuit (4) is wrapped. Locating projections (13) are provided at one side (10a) of the body member (10) for engaging and holding a distal end (7) of the flexible circuit. A strain relief structure (19,20) is provided at the opposite side (10b) of the body member defining a tortuous path through which the flexible circuit (4) is passed to lock the circuit on the connector.

Disclosed is an improvement in an electric connector for a flat, flexible cable having conductors on one side comprising: an insulating housing having a cavity to receive the connecting end of a flat, flexible cable and a plurality of terminal pairs parallel arranged at regular intervals and fixed in the cavity; and an actuator slidably nested in the insulating housing. The actuator has a blade to press the connecting end of the flat, flexible cable against the contacts of the terminals of each pair when the blade of the actuator is inserted in the cavity of the insulating housing. The contacts of the terminals of each pair face one side of the blade, and are aligned and spaced from each other in the direction in which the flat, flexible cable is inserted in the cavity of the insulating housing. The linear arrangement of terminal contacts at two different levels on one side of the cavity relative to the blade of the actuator has the effect of handling an FPC having an increased number of conductors on one side without longitudinally extending the connector size, thus providing a high-conductor density electric connector.

Electrical connector for flat cables

An electrical connector is provided for a flat electrical cable. The connector includes a housing loaded with a plurality of terminals. An actuator is movable mounted on the housing for biasing the cable into engagement with the terminals. A latching system is operatively associated between the housing and the actuator for retaining the actuator on the housing. The latching system includes a first latch mechanism latchable in a first direction and a second latch mechanism latchable in a second direction distinct from and at an angle to the first direction.

An improved electric connector which permits insertion of a flexible flat cable in its insertion space without causing oblique insertion or misalignment between the exposed conductors of the cable and the terminals of the connector housing. The central feature of the electric connector resides in the lateral distance between the opposed side walls of the connector housing to be tapered with a dimension smaller than the width of the flexible flat cable.

Disclosed is an improved electric connector which permits the reduced friction insertion of conductors of a flat flexible cable in a connector housing by a single push, assuring little or no damage to the conductors. The connector includes a housing 1 having terminals 3 arranged laterally and an associated actuator 10 slidably inserted in the connector housing 1. The actuator 10 has a flat stem surface 12 upon which a flat, flexible multiple-conductor cable 16 may lie upon, and a front wall 20 integrally connected to the forward end of the stem 11. The flexible contact arm 6 has an extended section 25 and a non-extended section 26 acting as a cam surface. The top 23 of the front wall of the actuator 10 acts as a cam forward as the actuator is inserted in the housing 1. When the cam follower 23 slides off the extended section 25 onto the non extended section the load on the flexible arm 6 is released allowing the contact point 7 on the arm 6 to be forced into electrical contact with a conductor 19 in the cable 16. While the actuator is being inserted and withdrawn from the housing the cable 16 travels along.

Disclosed is an improved shield enclosure comprising a open box-like body having flexible locking arms and flexible grounding arms both integrally connected to the lower edge of the open box-like body. The shield enclosure can be fixed to a printed circuit board, and be grounded simply by inserting its flexible locking arms in the fastening apertures of the printed circuit board, and be grounded by the flexible grounding arms being forced into contact with a ground strip on the printed circuit board, thus requiring no soldering and accordingly improving the efficiency with which shield enclosures can be attached to printed circuit boards.

An electrical connector arrangement for connecting the exposed conductors of a mating end of a printed circuit member in which an interior mating area for the printed circuit member is defined between left and right side walls of a housing. The top wall has an opening communicating with the interior mating area. Latch members are mounted in the left and right side walls, respectively. The latch members are outwardly displaced to accommodate the downward movement of the mating end of the printed circuit member. The mating end of the printed circuit member is held in position, after the completion of the downward movement, by the force exerted on one surface of the circuit member from terminal conductor engaging ends contacting the exposed conductors and by the opposite force exerted on the opposite surface of the circuit member by resilient top ends of the latch members, thereby assuring the electrical connection.

Electrical connector for connecting flexible printed circuit board

Disclosed is a small-sized electric motor equipped with an improved electric connector, which prevents high forces being exerted on exposed conductors of an insulated wire in the course of insertion or withdrawal of the exposed conductors from the connector housing, thereby preventing the rubbing between the exposed conductors and the terminal contacts of the electric connector. The electric connector includes an actuator. The actuator, when fully inserted in said connector housing, is adapted to push the exposed conductors against the contacts of the contact beams of the terminals, thereby causing the contact beams of the terminals to be forced into the exposed conductors.

Disclosed is an improved edge connector for making contact with conductor on a flat flexible cable and a printed circuit board requiring only a possible smallest mounting space. An edge connector according to the present invention has terminals inserted in both front and rear portions of the housing. All of the terminals have flexible arms opposite support shelves for contacting a conductor on a cable. The solder tails of the terminals are arranged on bottom of the housing in four lines in a staggered fashion.

A tool for pulling and removing the male housing of an electric connector away from the receptacle space of the female housing. The male housing has a plurality of slots to accommodate terminals, each terminal having a length of wire connected thereto. The tool includes a shank and a tool body integrally connected thereto. The tool body has a wide-and-short leg and a narrow-and-long leg in the form of a fork. The narrow-and-long leg has a lock projection on its rear side to be engaged by a lock recess or hole on the rear wall of the terminal slot in the male housing.

Disclosed is an electrical connector for a flexible flat cable comprising a connector housing having a plurality of terminals arranged therein and a connector cover removably mounted on the connector housing. The connector cover has a pressure blade which displaces each terminal thereby resiliently holding flat conductors on the cable between a contact portion of each terminal and the blade as well as electrically connecting the flat conductors and the contact portions of the terminal. The flexible flat cable is provided with a lock hole between the flat conductors thereon and a lock plate having a projection in a free end thereof mounted between the terminals. In addition, a support blade is mounted under the pressure blade of the connector cover. When the flexible flat cable is inserted and the connector cover is pushed into the connector housing, the lock hole of the cable becomes engaged with the projection of the lock plate.

Electrical connector for flexible flat cable

A connector is provided for joining two flat flexible cables. The connector comprises a carrier having an elongated base, a pair of guides extending orthogonally from opposed ends of the base and a generally planar support extending from the base and disposed between the guides. The connector further comprises a resilient clip having opposed arms extending from a connecting member and converging toward one another. Slits may be formed in the clip to define a plurality of independent clamping fingers aligned respectively with conductive traces on the flat flexible circuit members. The circuit members are disposed in face to face contact on the support of the carrier, and the clip is slidably advanced over the circuit members and the support. Thus, the arms of the clip hold the flat flexible circuit members in face to face contact with one another and against the support of the carrier.
