A paper-sheet feeding unit includes: a feed roller configured to be rotated when feeding out a paper sheet, the feed roller having a high friction portion placed on a part of a circumference of an outer circumferential surface thereof, and a low friction portion placed on a location of the outer circumferential surface thereof other than the high friction portion, the low friction portion having a frictional coefficient smaller than that of the high friction portion; and a gate member arranged to be pressed against the outer circumferential surface of the feed roller, the gate member constituting a gate section configured to separate, one by one, the paper sheets fed out by the feed roller.

Paper-sheet feeding unit

A paper sheet storage unitis opened upward and forward. Holding membersare respectively configured to be reciprocated, between a waiting position and a holding position, by a lifting and lowering mechanism. When the respective holding membersare in the waiting position, such holding memberscan serve as a guide surface, on the back side of the paper sheet storage unit, for guiding a batch of paper sheets stored in the paper sheet storage unit. Meanwhile, when the respective holding membersare in the holding position, the holding memberis in contact with a top face of the paper sheet present at the lowest layer of the paper sheets stored in the paper sheet storage unit, and serves to press the paper sheet downward. A controllercontrols the lifting and lowering mechanism, such that the lifting and lowering mechanismmoves the holding membersto the waiting position, when a paper sheet storage amount detectordetects that the amount of the paper sheets stored in the paper sheet storage unitis greater than a preset amount, while the lifting and lowering mechanismmoves the holding membersto the holding position, when the paper sheet storage amount detectordetects that the amount of the paper sheets stored in the paper sheet storage unitis less than the preset amount.

Paper sheet holding apparatus

A paper-sheet feeding device including a kicker roller configured to contact a forefront paper-sheet of a plurality of stacked paper-sheets and kick out the forefront paper-sheet; a feed roller to feed-out the paper-sheets to be kicked out by the kicker roller; and a press-fitting roller press-fit against the feed roller to provide a gate unit adapted to separate the paper-sheets to be fed by the feed roller, into one sheet. The kicker roller includes a base part and a high friction part formed in part of the outer circumference of the base part along the circumferential direction and configured to kick out the forefront paper-sheet. The feed roller includes a base part and a high friction part formed over the entire outer circumference of the base part and configured to contact the surface of the paper-sheet to be kicked out by the kicker roller to perform feed-out of the paper-sheet.

Kicker roller

A torque limiter between a pressure roller and shaft, which is configured to allow the pressure roller to rotate in a feed-out direction of a paper-sheet P, relative to the shaft, when a torque greater than a predetermined torque T is applied to the pressure roller along a circumferential direction thereof, while interlocking the pressure roller with the shaft when the torque applied to the pressure roller along the circumferential direction thereof is less than the predetermined torque. Further, the predetermined torque is set less than frictional torque Ndirectly generated between a feed roller friction part and a pressure roller friction part at a nip part N, while being set greater than both the frictional torque Ngenerated between the pressure roller friction part of the pressure roller and the paper-sheet P at the nip part N and the frictional torque Ngenerated between a pair of paper-sheets P at the nip part.
