A vehicular occupant protection system includes an air bag sensor; a base signal generating unit that generates a base signal for abnormality diagnosis for the air bag sensor; a diagnosis-signal generating unit that generates a diagnosis signal for the air bag sensor base on the base signal; an abnormality diagnosing unit that executes the abnormality diagnosis by using output signal that the air bag sensor outputs based on the diagnosis signal; and a condition-signal generating unit that generates a condition for a start of generating of the diagnosis signal. Here, the diagnosis-signal generating unit generates the diagnosis signal based on the base signal when the condition signal satisfies a given condition.

Vehicular occupant protection system

In a circuit device for analyzing analog signals from first and second circuits. The first and second circuits are designed to output analog signals which are opposite to each other in the positive and negative signs of phase. When short-circuit occurs, the output signals from the first and second circuits interfere with each other and thus these signals are offset by each other, so that malfunction caused by the short-circuit can be prevented, and also neither a device not a terminal is required to be added.

Short-circuit detecting circuit device

A G sensorgenerates a measuring value by measuring an impact acceleration applied to a vehicle. An A/D converterconverts the measuring value into a digital value with a resolution of K bits. A transmission interfacecompresses the digital value into a compression digital signal of L bits being smaller than K bits. When the digital value is outside a given range from (2&#x2212;2)/2 to (22)/2, the compression digital signal is generated by dividing the digital value by 2. When within the given range, the compression digital signal is generated without dividing the digital value. The compression digital signal corresponding to the digital value within the given range thereby maintains the resolution of K bits. Thus, even using the single G sensor, a resolution of a compression digital signal can be varied based on a low or high intensity level of G.

Data transmission system and occupant protection device

Provided is an activation system for a passenger protection apparatus capable of detecting a collision acceleration accurately and in detail with a simple configuration for appropriately activating apparatus. A satellite sensor unit side converts a detection output from an electronic acceleration sensor into a digital collision acceleration data and sequentially it to a communication line at a predetermined cycle, while an air bag control unit side makes a decision on collision at a front portion of a vehicle on the basis of a central-portion acceleration detected by an acceleration sensor and the collision acceleration data received through the line for the activation of air bags. This configuration enables only the air bag control unit side to make a collision decision without making a collision decision in the satellite sensor unit side, which allows a simple and low-cost system.

Activation system for passenger protection apparatus

A through-hole formed in a printed circuit board is prevented from being contaminated with water-resistant liquid coated on circuit elements. To prevent the water-resistant liquid from flowing into the through-hole, a barrier such as a bank surrounding the through-hole is formed in a screen-printing process for printing other patterns on the circuit board. The barrier is easily and precisely formed in a space between the through-hole and the circuit elements coated with the water-resistant liquid without requiring an additional manufacturing cost. The through-hole is reliably protected against the water-resistant liquid, while eliminating a conventional process of masking the through-hole.
