A display apparatus includes a laser radiation device, an object detection device, and a control device. The laser radiation device is configured to radiate laser light of a predetermined wavelength range to a display position in a gas to form a plasma in the display position. The object detection device is configured to detect presence or absence of an object in a predetermined space. The control device is configured to determine the predetermined space on a basis of the display position and intensity of the laser light scattered in the display position or having passed the display position.

A display device includes a laser irradiation device and a control device. The laser irradiation device is configured to irradiate an irradiation point located at a display position in air, with a laser beam having a wavelength equal to or larger than 380 nm and equal to or smaller than 780 nm and produce plasma at the display position. The control device is configured to control intensity of the laser beam emitted from the at least one laser irradiation device so that a relationship between intensity of plasma light emitted from the plasma at the display position and intensity of scattered light produced from the laser beam and scattered by the plasma becomes a predetermined relationship to display a color pixel.

The present invention improves rigidity in a joining portion between a substrate and piezoelectric element, and provides a liquid discharging device having improved vibration properties. A liquid discharging device includes a pressure chamber made up of a space surrounded by a pair of side walls, a floor wall, and a ceiling wall; a substrate configured to make up at least one of the floor wall or ceiling wall; a liquid supplying unit configured to fill the pressure chamber with liquid; and an electrode having a pair of side walls made of piezoelectric elements, configured to apply voltage to the piezoelectric elements in order to shrink the volume of the pressure chamber by deforming the piezoelectric elements and to discharge liquid from the pressure chamber; wherein the tip side face portion of the piezoelectric element is restrained as to the substrate.

Liquid discharging device

To reduce a liquid discharge amount by vibrating meniscuses at high acceleration with displacement of partitions, a plurality of partitions, each formed of a piezoelectric material, are provided to thereby form a plurality of pressure chambers. Each of electrode pairs for shear-deforming each partition is arranged on both sides of a corresponding one of the partitions. A nozzle plate having nozzles each connected to one of the pressure chambers is arranged on the side of a first end of the pressure chambers. Each pressure chamber is formed such that the width of the pressure chamber becomes long as it approaches, from the first end, a second end on the opposite side.

A liquid discharge apparatus in which controllability of liquid discharge speed is improved is provided. A pair of electrodes is arranged so as to divide a partition into a movable region to which an electric field for shear-deforming the partition at a portion on a nozzle side is applied and an immovable region to which the electric field is not applied at a portion on a common liquid chamber side. It is an object of this invention to make the amounts of liquid discharged from the nozzles of a liquid discharge head uniform. Driving method and apparatus for liquid discharge head

A driving method for a liquid discharge head having a discharge port for discharging liquid; a pressure-applying portion communicating with the discharge port, for applying discharge pressure to the liquid; and a pressure generating device for generating the pressure. The method includes a step of applying first and second discharge pulses for discharging liquid, to the pressure generating device in a sequential manner in response to a one-dot discharge instruction. The pulse widths of the first and second discharge pulses and a rest time between the first and second discharge pulses are determined so that the volume of a first liquid discharged in response to the first discharge pulse is equal to or greater than that of a second liquid discharged in response to the second discharge pulse and the discharge speed of the first liquid is lower than the discharge speed of the second liquid.

In formation of thin films on both surfaces of a substrate such as a lens or the like, a pair of cluster beam evaporation sources are provided in mutually separate manner in a film forming chamber. The substrate is disposed between the pair of cluster beam evaporation sources. In a method of manufacturing a thin film, evaporated particles are generated by a vapor source and are clustered. The clustered evaporated particles are deposited onto a substrate in a vacuum atmosphere without ionizing the particles. A partial pressure of water in the vacuum atmoshpere is controlled to not more than 5.times.10.sup.-6 Torr. A temperature of the substrate is maintained to be 150.degree. C. or lower. A film according to this method has a high adhesion characteristics and a high mechanical strength without heating the substrate to a high temperature and without damaging the substrate by ions.
