A woven material of inorganic fiber, and a process for making the same, are disclosed in which exposed surfaces of warps and wefts constituting the woven material are opened as a result of being impinged by jets of pressurized water, whereby the fibers on the surface of the woven material are uniformly raised.

Silane coupling agents and a method of preparing the coupling agents are provided in which a silane coupling agent is prepared by reacting 2.3 to 4.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 4 active hydrogen atoms are bound, by reacting 1.3 to 3.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 3 active hydrogen atoms are bound and to which one alkylsilyl group is bound, or by reacting 0.3 to 2.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 2 active hydrogen atoms are bound and to which 2 alkylsilyl groups are bound. In addition, a silane coupling agent may be prepared by reacting the diamine with a haloalkylalkoxysilane and a halomethylstyrene.

Silane coupling agent and glass fiber product for laminates

A glass fiber product for laminates is provided having excellent epoxy resin impregnation properties and solvent resistance, high soldering heat resistance, good heat shock resistance and low water adsorption properties, and to a silane coupling agent for providing such a glass fiber product. The silane coupling agent is prepared by reacting 2.3 to 4.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 4 active hydrogen atoms are bound, a silane coupling agent prepared by reacting 1.3 to 3.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 3 active hydrogen atoms are bound and to which one alkylsilyl group is bound, or a silane coupling agent prepared by reacting 0.3 to 2.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 2 active hydrogen atoms are bound and to which 2 alkylsilyl groups are bound. A silane coupling agent prepared by reacting the diamine with a haloalkylalkoxysilane and a halomethylstyrene is also provided as is a glass fiber product for laminates treated with the above-mentioned silane coupling agent.

Disclosed is a method for rapid and accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of finishing agent applied onto the surface of a glass fiber substrate. This method comprises placing a glass fiber substrate to be tested in a Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer equipped with a diffuse reflectance measuring device, irradiating said glass fiber substrate with infrared ray and carrying out qualitative analysis of finishing agent on the surface of the glass fiber substrate from wave number of infrared absorption peak produced at the irradiation and quantitative analysis of the finishing agent from intensity of the infrared absorption peak.

Method for analysis of finishing agent applied to glass fiber substrate

In a substrate of a printed circuit, a metal foil is mounted onto at least one of the outermost surfaces of a laminate made of a plurality of glass fiber woven fabrics impregnated with synthetic resin, and heated and pressed. Warps and wefts of the glass fiber fabrics filamentated their filaments. The synthetic resin enters gaps among the opening filaments so that the vertically laminated glass fiber fabrics including the opening fibers are integrally jointed with each other. Warps and wefts of the glass fiber fabrics may have their surfaces made fuzzy so that the synthetic resin enters fuzzy filaments. Furthermore, the thus produced substrate may be used as a multilayer printed circuit substrate.
