A control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of quickly and properly ensuring excellent fuel economy of the engine even when atmospheric pressure has changed. The control system includes an ECU. The ECU performs weighted average calculation on lowland map values and highland map values, based on atmospheric pressure, to thereby calculate map values of a demanded torque that minimize a fuel consumption ratio of the engine in the atmospheric pressure, and calculates engine demanded output. The ECU calculates demanded torque and demanded engine speed using the map values and the engine demanded output, respectively. The ECU controls the engine using the demanded torque.

A hybrid electric vehicle drive apparatus has a setting portion for setting a limit value of a driving torque that a motor outputs when driving a hybrid electric vehicle by the power of the motor only, based on a maximum torque that the motor enables to output and a starting torque used to start an internal combustion engine by the motor. Intake control system for internal combustion engine

An intake control system for an internal combustion engine is capable of ensuring a differential pressure across an EGR valve, and controlling an EGR amount with high accuracy. A target fresh air amount is set based on a demanded torque calculated according to operating conditions of the engine. A differential pressure across an EGR valve is set as a target differential pressure. When it is determined that the across-valve differential pressure is not in a state in which the target differential pressure can be ensured, an opening degree of the EGR valve is controlled to limit an EGR amount. An opening degree of a throttle valve is controlled based on the target fresh air amount, so as to ensure the target differential pressure.

A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine having a throttle valve disposed in an intake passage of the engine is provided. A wide-open intake air amount, which is an intake air amount corresponding to a state where the throttle valve is fully opened, is calculated, and a theoretical intake air amount, which is an intake air amount corresponding to a state where no exhaust gas of the engine is recirculated to a combustion chamber of the engine, is calculated according to the wide-open intake air amount and the intake pressure. An air-fuel ratio correction amount and a learning value thereof are calculated according to the detected air-fuel ratio, and a reference intake air amount is calculated using the intake pressure, the engine rotational speed, the air-fuel ratio correction amount, and the learning value. A lower limit value of the detected intake air amount is set according to the reference intake air amount, and a limit process is performed for limiting the detected intake air amount within a range of values which are equal to or greater than the lower limit value. An amount of the evaporative fuel/air mixture supplied to the intake passage is calculated, and the limit-processed intake air amount is corrected using the evaporative fuel/air mixture amount to calculate an intake gas amount. An exhaust gas recirculation ratio is calculated using the theoretical intake air amount and the intake gas amount.

An intake air control apparatus for an internal-combustion engine includes an intake air adjusting device. An operating mode determination device is configured to determine whether the internal-combustion engine is in a predetermined high rotation speed and high load operation mode in which cooling is required by increasing an amount of fuel. An intake control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of suppressing a change in an intake pressure caused by a change in a target intake air amount even in a transient operating condition in which the target intake air amount is varied, thereby making it possible to control the intake pressure stably and accurately. The intake control system controls an intake air amount by an intake valve lift, and controls intake negative pressure by a throttle valve. The system limits a target intake air amount based on upper and lower limit values set according to the intake valve lift and an intake cam phase, and corrects the target intake air amount by averaging the same using averaging calculation such that the change therein is delayed. The present invention provides a scheme for determining an abnormality of an intake air system with higher accuracy in an engine an intake air amount is controlled by adjusting a lift amount of an intake valve. A throttle opening area is determined based on a current intake air amount. A feedback correction is performed on the throttle opening area. The feedback correction includes determining a correction amount of the throttle opening area such that the gauge pressure inside the intake manifold converges to a desired gauge pressure and then adding the correction amount to the throttle opening area. A feedback control is performed on an air-fuel ratio. Determination of abnormality of an intake air system of an internal-combustion engine

A rotational speed parameter is detected in accordance with a rotational speed of the engine. A reference value of the rotational speed parameter is calculated. For each cylinder, an error between the reference value and the rotational speed parameter detected every predetermined crank angle is calculated as a relative speed parameter. For each cylinder, an integrated value is calculated by integrating the relative speed parameters over a predetermined period. For each cylinder, an average value per cylinder of the sum of the integrated values of all the cylinders is calculated. For each cylinder, an error between the integrated value of the cylinder and the average value is calculated. For each cylinder, the output of the engine is controlled in accordance with the error calculated for the cylinder such that variations in the output between the cylinders are suppressed.

Control for an internal-combustion engine

A control for an engine having a variable valve actuation mechanism is provided. A map indicating a correlation among a rotational speed, a gauge pressure of an intake manifold, a lift amount of an intake valve, a phase of the intake valve and an intake air amount of the engine under a reference condition of a predetermined reference atmospheric pressure and a predetermined reference intake air temperature is defined. An intake air amount for the reference condition is determined as a reference intake air amount by referring to the map based on a current rotational speed, a current gauge pressure, a current lift amount and a current phase. The reference intake air amount is corrected with a ratio between an air density under a current condition of a current atmospheric pressure, a current intake air temperature and a current gauge pressure and an air density under the reference condition to calculate an intake air amount for the current condition.

An intake air control system for an internal combustion engine having at least one intake valve and a valve operating characteristic varying mechanism which continuously varies a lift amount of the at least one intake valve of the engine. A target intake air flow rate of the engine is calculated along with a command value of the lift amount according to a target engine rotational speed set in an idling condition of the engine and the target intake air flow rate when the engine is determined to be in an idling condition. The valve operating characteristic varying mechanism is controlled according to the calculated lift amount command value.

Intake air control system for internal combustion engine

The present invention provides an intake air control capable of implementing a highly accurate constant negative pressure control with a smaller number of process steps under various environments. The intake air control is applicable to an engine having a variable valve actuation mechanism for adjusting at least a lift amount of an intake valve to control an intake air amount and a throttle valve for keeping a gauge pressure in an intake manifold at a desired gauge pressure. A reference throttle opening area is determined by referring to a first table based on a desired intake air amount. The first table defines a relation between an intake air amount and a throttle opening area under a reference gauge pressure, a reference atmospheric pressure and a reference intake air temperature. A throttle opening area for achieving the desired gauge pressure is determined by correcting the reference throttle opening area with a correction parameter derived based on the Bernoulli's law by using the desired gauge pressure, a current atmospheric pressure and a current intake air temperature.
