Electrochemical cell

A coin type (button type) electrochemical cell is configured of a negative electrode can configuring a negative electrode side and a positive electrode can configuring a positive electrode side. Then, the negative electrode can and the positive electrode can are formed of non-magnetic stainless steel which does not have magnetic properties due to plastic processing. Specifically, the negative electrode can and the positive electrode can are formed by using high manganese stainless steel or SUS305 having a high nickel (Ni) content. In this way, the negative electrode can and the positive electrode can are formed of non-magnetic stainless steel which maintains non-magnetic properties even after being processed into the shape of a coin, and thus it is possible to provide a non-magnetic electrochemical cell, and as a result thereof, it is possible to provide an electrochemical cell which is not affected even at the time of being arranged in the vicinity of a magnet.

Electrochemical cell and electrochemical cell with terminal

An electrochemical element comprises a container and a sealing plate for sealing an opening of the container. The container is sealed with the sealing plate by welding a portion of the brazing material on the sealing plate and a portion of the metal film of the container which make contact with each other together in a state where a first electrode active material, a separator, a second electrode active material and an electrolyte are contained in the container. An electricity collector sheet is electrically connected to the first electrode active material or the second electrode active material, whichever is closer to the opening of the container. At least a portion of the electricity collector sheet extends to the end portion of the container so that the container and the sealing plate are welded together with the extending portion of the electricity collector sheet in between. Thus, the manufacturing process may be simplified so that the welding of the container and the sealing plate can be easily carried out even when the container and the sealing plate are reduced in size.

An electrochemical cell has a container having a main surface and a cavity containing therein a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator separating the positive and negative electrodes from one another, and an electrolyte. A sealing plate that seals the cavity of the container is bonded to the main surface of the container with an unoxidized weld.

An electrochemical cell has a container containing a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte. The container has a bottom face and a hole formed in the bottom face. A positive electrode current collector is embedded in the bottom face of the container so that the hole formed in the bottom face exposes a portion of the positive electrode current collector. A covering portion is adhered to the positive electrode and covers the exposed portion of the positive electrode current collector. The positive electrode current collector is electrically connected to the positive electrode via the covering portion. A lid seals the container.

An electrochemical cell has a container housing a separator and a pair of electrodes impregnated with an electrolyte. The container has a base member having a bottom part and a side part disposed on a top surface of the bottom part along an outer rim of the bottom part. A metallic conductive terminal has first and second opposite surfaces penetrating through inner and outer sides of the base member. The first surface of the conductive terminal is disposed on the top surface of the bottom part of the base member. The second surface of the conductive terminal is disposed in contact with one of the pair of the electrodes. A metallic frame member has first and second opposite surfaces, with the first surface being joined to an entire rim of a top surface of the side part of the base member. A metallic cover member is joined to an entire rim of the second surface of the frame member.

Electrochemical cell and fabrication method of the same

An electrochemical cell has an outer case formed of one of ceramics and glass. An electrochemical cell element is hermetically sealed in the outer case. The electrochemical cell element contains a positive pole, a negative pole, and a non-aqueous electrolyte containing an organic solvent. A metal layer is formed on an edge of the outer case. A sealing plate is resistance welded to the metal layer. The sealing plate is made of an alloy containing, in weight percentage, Co by 1 to 50%, Ni by 1 to 70%, Fe by 20% or higher, Cr by 10% or lower, Mn by 2.0% or lower, Si by 1.0% or lower and C by 1.0% or lower.

A package for a communication device has a base member having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and an interior space disposed between the first and second ends for accommodating a communication device. A conductive terminal extends through the base member from the interior space and to the exterior of the base member. A frame member is connected to the base member and has a peripheral portion protruding from the first end of the base member. A method for producing an electrical double layer capacitor comprising the steps of assembling together components comprised of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a non-aqueous solvent, an electrolyte containing a supporting salt, a separator, and a gasket to form a coin- or button-type electrical double layer capacitor, heating the assembled coin- or button-type electrical double layer capacitor so that a temperature profile of the heating step is approximately the same as a temperature profile of reflow soldering, and welding an outer connection terminal to the heated assembled coin- or button-type electrical double layer capacitor after the heating step.

A non-aqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery is resistant to the reflow temperature during reflow soldering. The non-aqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery has a positive electrode having an active material comprised of an oxide of molybdenum, a negative electrode comprised of lithium and SiO, an electrolytic solution comprised of a material containing a supporting salt and resistant to the reflow temperature during reflow soldering of the non-aqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery, and a gasket comprised of a compound selected from the group consisting of LCP, PEEK, PEN, and tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether copolymer resin.

Non-aqueous electrolyte rechargeable batteries

An electrical double layer capacitor has an electrolyte included of a non-aqueous solvent and a supporting salt dissolved in the non-aqueous solvent. A pair of polarizing electrodes are disposed in confronting relation with one another. A separator is disposed between the polarizing electrodes. The supporting salt contained in the electrolyte exists only in regions proximate a surface of the polarizing electrodes when the electrical double layer capacitor is fully charged. When the electrical double layer capacitor is charged at 3.3 V for 24 hours, a charged current after 24 hours is in the range of from about 5 &mgr;A/cm to about 22 &mgr;A/cm per unit area of the polarizing electrodes.
