A plate making apparatus of a flexible plate material being placed on a plate cylinder for executing planographic printing in multiple colors. The plate making apparatus has a cutter being placed between a storage section of a roll-like plate material and an exposure section for cutting the roll-like plate material like a sheet and punch means for making plate cylinder engagement holes and in the left and right margins of the plate material along the transport direction thereof, the plate cylinder engagement holes to be engaged in protrusions an disposed in the circumferential direction of the left and right margins of the plate cylinder. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a plate making apparatus which reliably holds a plate material on a plate cylinder for enabling planographic printing and can use a roll-like plate material.

Plate material placement apparatus and method

A lithographic printing device has a plurality of plate cylinders for respective colors. A plurality of packing sheets are respectively attached to the plate cylinders, each packing sheet having a series of protruded pieces aligned in a circumferential direction of the respective plate cylinder. A plurality of press plates respectively provided on the packing sheets, each press plate having engaging holes into which the protruded pieces of the respective packing sheet are inserted. Each series of protruded pieces satisfies the following relation: 2D&lE;P&lE;4.06&times;10 &times;D/W, where P is a pitch of the series of protruded pieces, D is a diameter of each protruded piece, and W is a width of the press plate.

The plate making apparatus has a cutter 23 being placed between a storage section 21 of a roll-like plate material and an exposure section 25 for cutting the roll-like plate material like a sheet and punch means 30 for making plate cylinder engagement holes 14a and 14b in the left and right margins of the plate material along the transport direction thereof, the plate cylinder engagement holes to be engaged in protrusions 7a and 7b disposed in the circumferential direction of the left and right margins of the plate cylinder. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a plate making apparatus which reliably holds a plate material on a plate cylinder for enabling planographic printing and can use a roll-like plate material.

An electrophotographic lithographic printing plate precursor capable of well maintaining both the electrophotographic properties and the printing properties is provided, which comprises, at least, a photoconductive layer on one side of a support and an under layer directly under the photoconductive layer, in which the under layer consists of a plurality of layers comprising an outermost layer having a surface resistivity of at most 1.times.10.sup.11 .OMEGA. and an inner layer having a Cobb's water absorbing capacity of at most 15 g/m.sup.2 (45 minute value) or having a Young's Modulus of at most 1000 kg/cm.sup.2.

A liquid electrophotographic developing device for developing a charged and exposed photoconductive material which includes a photoconductive layer formed on one surface of a conductive layer. The liquid electrophotographic developing device is comprised of developing section, a developing solution tank provided in a housing and filled with a developing solution, conveying rollers for conveying the photoconductive materials, a developing electrode and a back electrode which are disposed parallel along a conveying path of the photoconductive material in the developing section, and a developing solution supplying device disposed above the developing electrode. The developing electrode is spaced part from the photoconductive layer, and the back electrode is disposed to come into contact with the back surface of the photoconductive material. Upon directly connecting the electrodes, toner particles contained in the developing solution adhere to the photoconductive layer to achieve development. The developing electrode does not touch the photoconductive layer to make a developed image free from soiling. The housing is covered with a lid to prevent the vaporizing of the developing solution. The developing solution is circulated through the developing section by a circulating device.

Liquid electrophotographic developing device and method thereof

A liquid electrophotographic developing device for developing a photoconductive material charged and exposed and which has a photoconductive layer formed on one surface of a conductive layer comprises a developing tank filled with a developing solution in which a developing electrode and a back electrode are disposed. The electrodes are immersed in the developing solution and disposed on either side of the photoconductive material in conveyance. The back electrode comes into contact with the back surface of the photoconductive material, whereas the developing electrode is spaced part from the photoconductive layer. Upon directly connecting the electrodes, toner particles contained in the developing solution adhere to the photoconductive layer to achieve development. The developing electrode does not touch the photoconductive layer, making a developed image free from soiling, the electrodes are immersed in the developing solution, preventing the drying and solidifying of the solution around the electrodes, and the developing tank is covered with a lid, preventing the vaporizing of the developing solution.

Liquid electrophotographic developing device

A liquid electrophotographic development method where electrodes are arranged only on the side of the photosensitive layer of a master, developing liquid is supplied between the master and the electrodes, and conductors are made to come into contact with the base of the master so that an electric field is generated between the photosensitive plane and the electrodes for development. The electrode to be used for the electrophotographic development method includes conductive wires of a plural number which are arranged in the direction perpendicular to the traveling direction of the material so as to come into contact with the conductive base thereof. If the electrodes are utilized, a main electrode needs to be arranged only on the side of the photosensitive layer of the master, and developing liquid is supplied therebetween. The electrode is adapted to come into contact with the conductive base of the master, to thereby generate an electric field between the main electrode and the electrode. Therefore, the master can be directly injected with electrons instead of indirect injection, and adhesion of toner scum which often was caused in the prior art can be avoided. This further eliminates the trouble of cleaning the electrodes to improve maintenance.

An electrophotographic lithographic printing plate precursor which is suitable for not only the ordinary developing methods but also the developing methods of direct electron injection system and which after developing, can readily be wound and fixed, as a lithographic printing plate, around a drum of a printing machine without any slippage after winding is provided. This precursor comprise a base of paper coated, on both surfaces thereof, with .alpha.-polyolefin laminated layers each having a volume resistivity of at most 1.times.10.sup.10 .OMEGA. and being further provided, on one side thereof, with a photoconductive layer and on the other side thereof, with an over back layer having a surface resistivity of at most 1.times.10.sup.10 .OMEGA. and a larger friction coefficient than the .alpha.-polyolefin laminated layer.
