Disclosed is a coating composition curable at a low temperature, comprising (A) a hydroxyl-containing compound, (B) a metal chelate compound or a metal alcoholate compound and (C) a compound having an acid anhydride group. The composition further comprises a chelate-forming compound (D) and/or a tertiary amine (E).

Metallic/clear coat system

The present invention provides a metallic paint film featuring a remarkably excellent coating appearance as well as weather resistance, by using a specific combination of a water borne paint and thermosetting clear paint in compliance with the wet-on-wet two-coat, one-bake painting method.

Method of painting

Multilayer metallic coating is formed on a substrate by applying a base coating composition containing a metallic pigment, applying a clear top coating composition on the base coating wet-on-wet, and curing both coatings simultaneously. The coating compositions contain a film-forming polymer having a plurality of crosslinkable function groups, a crosslinker an organic liquid diluent, internally crosslinked polymer microparticles and an organic acid catalyst masked with an organic base capable of accelerating the crosslinking reaction between the film-forming polymer and the crosslinker.

Method of forming metallic coatings

An aqueous coating composition which comprises a carboxy group-containing resin powder (I), a basic compound (II) and an aqueous resin (III), optionally with a reactive compound (IV) to at least one of the resin powder (I) and the aqueous resin (III), in an aqueous medium, the basic compound (II) being contained in an amount of 0.4 to 1.2 equivalents to the carboxy group in the resin powder (I) so as to disperse the resin powder (I) into the aqueous medium and the weight proportion of the resin powder (I) and the aqueous resin (III) being from 2:98 to 98:2. The coating composition thus obtained is excellent in storage stability and workability and can provide a coating film having good performances.

Aqueous coating composition, and its production

There is provided a two-coat, one-bake metallic coating method which comprises applying, first, (a) a base coat composition containing an acrylic polyol oligomer having an average molecular weight of 500 to 2000 and a non-yellowing polyisocyanate compound in a NCO/OH ratio of 0.5/1 through 1/0.5 and further containing an appropriate amount of a metallic pigment and, then, on top thereof (b) a clear top coat composition containing said acrylic polyol oligomer and non-yellowing polyisocyanate compound in a NCO/OH ratio of 0.5/1 through 1/0.5 and causing the resulting coats to cure simultaneously. There are also provided coating compositions to be used in the above coating method.

Metallic coating using two coat one bake method

A sealant for separation of a sample of blood into serum or plasma and clot portions, which has a specific gravity of about 1.03 to 1.08 and a viscosity of about 5,000 to 1,000,000 cps at a shearing speed of 1 second.sup.-1 when measured at 25.degree. C. and comprises as the essential component a polymer essentially consisting of the units of at least one of alkyl acrylates and alkyl methacrylates, and which forms a separator between the serum or plasma portion as the upper layer and the clot portion as the lower layer formed as the result of centrifugation of the blood sample so that the serum or plasma portion is readily separated from the clot portion by decantation.
