An input method and an input apparatus wherein a sketch read by an image scanner is displayed on the display, the class of component figure is designated thereon, characteristic values are input, and positions of characteristic points are designated such that a figure of fair copy is automatically prepared. Further, the sketch and the figure of fair copy are displayed being superposed upon each other while modifying the brightness or color so that the results of input can be easily recognized, making it possible to reduce the work for inputting the figure and to easily determine the size and position of the figure on the document which is a constituent component. In preparing the figure of fair copy by recognizing through a pattern recognition device the sketch that is input by the image scanner, furthermore, those portions that were not properly recognized are input again by the above method and apparatus.

Document input method and apparatus

In a multi-window system, a plurality of windows are set on a display screen, and data processed results are displayed independently for each window, first and second windows are set on the display screen. When an operator inputs a series of commands so as to effect data processing on the first window, the data processed results based on the inputted commands are displayed on the first window, whereas the inputted commands are sequentially displayed in addition to already inputted commands on the second window.

Method of processing commands for cataloged procedure in multi-window

In a document processing method using a multiwindow including a display device having a display screen on which a plurality of windows are established, a virtual screen memory in which a plurality of virtual screens each corresponding to programs are generated to output results of data processing by programs, a memory unit for storing therein a window control table defining corresponding relationships between the virtual screens and the windows, and a control device for referencing the window control table and for outputting contents of each virtual screen in a window associated with the virtual screen on the display screen, copy source attribute data including an identifier of a second window established in the display screen and data defining a second partial region in the second window is memorized in correspondence with a first partial region on the vertical screen so that, in response to a command inputted by an operator while painting to the first partial region displayed in the first window, the display contents of the second partial region of the second window are copied into the first partial region of the first window based on the copy source attribute data stored on the virtual screen corresponding to the first window.

Document processing method and system using multiwindow

A display system which uses one display unit as if it were a plurality of display units to separately display whole information and partial information of document is disclosed. A plurality of display windows are defined on one display screen and a layout or a reduced image of the whole information is displayed in one of the window and information or image representing the information of a partial area of the whole information is displayed in other window. When one of the whole information and the partial area information is changed, the other information is also changed correspondingly, or a mark indicating a relation between the whole information and the partial area information is displayed in one of the window.

Method and system for displaying image data

In a multi-window system for setting a plurality of windows on the screen for independent display in each window, a novel display control method is disclosed in which a visible region of a given window is determined from the positions and overlapped relations between the windows on the display screen, and display data is selectively applied to the visible region. The visible region is checked for crossing between an object window and another window making up a reference window on the screen, and if they cross each other, the object window is divided into subregions, while the subregion not overlapped with the reference window is regarded as a new object region, which is collated with another reference window and subdivided. This process of collation and division is repeated. A display output is thus applied sequentially to the subregions which are found to be a visible region.

Display control method for multi-window system

In a method for controlling an image display apparatus having a file management table for managing information including titles of image data stored in a file memory and storage addresses therefor and a window management table for managing information including locations and sizes of windows on a display screen and quarry locations of the image data, the content of the window management table in accordance with an input command is updated so that the location and size of the window, the superposition of the windows and the scrolling of the window can be interactively changed.
