A driver more reliably becomes aware, on a vehicle glass, of near-vehicle object information of which the driver should be aware. A vehicle information display systemis equipped with awareness information detecting unitthat detects information of an awareness object of which a driver should be aware near a host vehicle, eye position detecting unitthat detects the position of the eyes of the driver, and display unitthat displays on vehicle glassesandat least one of the information of the awareness object that has been detected by the awareness information detecting unitand an emphatic display. The display unitdisplays, in an intersection where an axis interconnecting the position of the eyes of the driver that has been detected by the eye position detecting unitand the awareness object of which the driver should be aware intersects the vehicle glassesandor in a neighborhood of that intersection, the information of the awareness object detected by the awareness information detecting unitor the emphatic display.

Vehicle information display system

If a control portion determines that the direction of travel of the vehicle with a range selected by the driver is different from the direction intended by the driver to move the vehicle, a vehicle inhibiting mechanism is activated to inhibit the movement of the vehicle. The activation of the vehicle inhibiting mechanism is based on a detection signal of the range selected by the driver from a range detecting portion, and a driver state detection signal from a driver state detecting portion.

Improper start preventing apparatus for vehicle

In a negative pressure boosting device of the present invention, upon depression of a pedal at a normal speed, an input shaftand a valve plungermove forward to close a vacuum valveand open an atmospheric valveand a power pistona valve bodyand an output shaftmove forward. In the initial stage of operation, hooksandare not engaged with each other so that a cylindrical memberdoes not move forward, thereby shortening the stroke of the input shaftas compared to a conventional one. Upon rapid depression of the pedal, a press facepresses a pressed faceso as to deform an engaging arm portion, thereby disengaging the hooksandfrom each other. The cylindrical memberis moved backward by a springto push a vacuum valve portionso that the atmospheric valve portionis spaced apart from the atmospheric valve seatmore rapidly than that of the service braking, thereby increasing the jumping amount and thus rapidly intensifying the output.

Negative pressure boosting device

A tubular memberis slidably fitted into a valve body, and is formed with a vacuum valve seat. The tubular member, a valve plungerand the valve bodyare maintained in their inoperative positions shown by abutment against a key member. A holderis formed with a tapered surfaceto assist in allowing an elastic deformation of a reaction disc. Immediately after the commencement of operation of a valve mechanismas an input shaftis driven forward, the input shaftand the tubular memberare maintained in their inoperative positions until a rear end face of a variable pressure passageabuts against the key member. The operating stroke of an input shaftcan be chosen to be less than the operating stroke of an output shaftwhile preventing the jumping value from increasing to an excessively high value.

Negative pressure brake booster

In a negative pressure boosting device, a movable valve seat is air-tightly and slidably disposed in a concavity of a valve body. The movable valve seat and a valve element compose a vacuum valve. A servo ratio changing device includes a control spring compressed and disposed between the movable valve seat and the valve body. The servo ratio changing device is provided on a valve mechanism (the vacuum valve). During operation, the valve element comes in contact with the movable valve seat. The movable valve seat does not move in a low-input range so that the servo ratio is a relatively large ratio for the normal operation. In a high-input range, the control spring starts to be compressed to move the movable valve seat, thereby changing the servo ratio to a small ratio.

During a normal brake operation, a brake reaction from a reaction disc is transmitted to a valve plunger through an outer plunger and an inner plunger. During an emergency brake operation, as a valve plunger is driven forward through a given stroke relative to a valve body, a tubular member retracts relative to the valve body. In a servo balance condition, which is reached subsequently, the valve plunger, retracts by an amount corresponding to the retraction of the tubular member, and the outer plunger abuts against a holder. A brake reaction from the reaction disc is transmitted to the valve plunger only through the inner plunger, allowing a booster ratio to be greater and a jumping quantity to be greater than during a normal brake operation. It is possible to increase an output from a brake booster rapidly in immediate response to a quick depression of a brake pedal.

Brake booster

An automatic brake booster includes a solenoid and a solenoid plunger which allow a flow path in a valve mechanism to be switched without depression of a brake pedal. The solenoid plunger comprises a rear member on which an atmosphere valve seat is formed, a front member which is disposed to be displaceable with respect to the rear member, and a first spring disposed between the both members. When a current fed to the solenoid is less than a given value, the first spring remains inactive while when the current exceeds the given value, the first spring becomes flexed to reduce a clearance between the rear member and a holder which forms part of a magnetic path of the solenoid together with the rear member. When the booster operates as an automatic brake, a gentle brake operation which allows a precise control with a reduced brake output and a quick brake operation with an increased brake output can be simultaneously achieved in a preferred manner.

Automatic brake booster

An automatic brake booster includes a solenoid which causes a back- and forth movement of a solenoid plunger to switch a valve mechanism A second vacuum valve seat member including a second vacuum valve seat which is juxtaposed with a first vacuum valve seat on a valve body and a pressure responsive area subject to a pressure of a variable pressure chamber and a pressure of a constant pressure chamber is slidably mounted on the valve body. The effect of the pressure differential acting upon the pressure responsive area is balanced with the force resulting from the excitation of the solenoid plunger to deliver a brake output which corresponds to the force. The invention enables a high accuracy control of a brake output during an automatic brake operation.

An electrically driven brake booster ( ) includes an input member ( ) disposed in operative association with a brake pedal ( ), an output member ( ) disposed in operative association with the master cylinder ( ), and drive transmitting device ( ) for translating a rotating motion of a motor ( ) into a linear motion to be transmitted to the output member ( ). The drive transmitting device ( ) comprises a rack ( ) formed on the output member ( ), and pinions ( ) disposed in operative association with the motor ( ) and in meshing engagement with the rack ( ). Also, reaction transmitting device ( ) which transmits a brake reaction to the input member ( ) and the output member ( ) at a given proportion is provided. In comparison to conventional drive transmitting device, the drive transmitting device ( ) of the present invention has a simple construction, a reduced weight and a better transmission efficiency. The provision of reaction transmitting device allows a correct brake control to be achieved on the basis of a brake reaction.

Electrically driven brake booster

A brake system of the present invention comprises a brake operating means such as a brake pedal for carrying braking operation, a fluid variable stroke means which variably controls the stroke of the brake operating means by using fluid, and a braking force output means which is actuated by the operation of the brake operating means to produce braking forces. By manipulating the brake operating means , the braking force output means performs the braking operation. The traveling rang of the brake operating means i.e. the stroke can be changed variously by the fluid variable stroke means using fluid. Since the stroke of the brake pedal can be changed as mentioned above, a proper pedal stroke can be obtained.

Brake system

A first vacuum valve seat is formed on a valve body , and a second vacuum valve seat is formed on a tubular member which is slidably mounted on the valve body . A lever member is provided between the tubular member and a valve plunger , and when the valve plunger strokes through a given stroke or more relative to the valve body , the lever member moves angularly to retract the tubular member rearward relative to the valve body . When a brake pedal is quickly depressed, the lever member moves angularly to cause an engaging tab to engage an engaging recess formed in the valve body , thus retaining the tubular member at a position which is reached as it is retracted rearward relative to the valve body . This allows an atmosphere valve to be opened to a greater opening than during a usual operation, allowing an increased output to be obtained rapidly. The present invention allows an output from a brake booster to be increased rapidly as an immediate response to a quick depression of the brake pedal.

A tubular member is disposed within a valve body and has a resilient retainer mounted around the outer periphery thereof. The inner periphery of the valve body is formed with an annular groove When a brake pedal is quickly depressed, an input shaft and the tubular member are driven forward through more than a given stroke relative to the valve body, whereby a projection of the retainer becomes engaged with the annular groove This produces and maintains a large opening in an atmosphere valve Accordingly, an output from a tandem brake booster can be increased immediately in response to a quick depression of the brake pedal.

A hydraulic-pressure counter-force mechanism which produces a counter force when a brake booster is operated is made up of an input-side member slidable disposed within a valve body , a second constant-pressure chamber formed on the rear side of the input-side member and into which a pressure is introduced from a constant pressure chamber A, and a second constant-pressure chamber formed on the front side of the input-side member and into which a pressure is introduced from a variable pressure chamber B. The counter force from the hydraulic-pressure counter-force mechanism is reduced by an orifice passage as counter-force reducing means in rapid operation for brake.

In a brake booster of the present invention, by depression of a brake pedal an input shaft travels to the left, a pedal input converter generates thrust, and a valve element moves to the left. A valve passage is shut off from a valve passage and a valve passage is connected to a valve passage so as to develop output pressure Pr at an output port of a control valve because of the pressure of a pressure source. The output pressure Pr is supplied to a wheel cylinder thereby actuating the brake. At this point, since the displacement of the input shaft required for operating the control valve is defined only by the converter the input side is not affected by the brake rigidity of a circuit from the control valve to the wheel cylinder The output pressure Pr of the control valve acts on the valve element through a first reaction receiving portion and is regulated to pressure proportional to the thrust of the converter The second reaction force is transmitted to a driver through a second reaction receiving portion The control of the output can be conducted during the operation regardless of the input of the input side and the respective characteristics can be varied without being affected by the output side.

As the primary piston is driven forward, a cup seal moves forwardly of a communication path in a first sleeve to interrupt a communication between a first reservoir chamber and the first liquid pressure chamber thus generating a liquid pressure in the first liquid pressure chamber As the secondary piston is driven forward, a cup seal moves forwardly of a communication path interrupting a communication between a second reservoir chamber and a second liquid pressure chamber thus generating a liquid pressure in the second liquid pressure chamber The invention provides a master cylinder which is simple in construction and inexpensive to manufacture.
