A belt-type continuously variable transmission includes an actual gear ratio calculation unit for calculating an actual gear ratio based on the rotation speed of a drive pulley and the rotation speed of a driven pulley, a reference gear ratio calculation unit for calculating a reference gear ratio by modifying the actual gear ratio based on an input torque and a driven pulley hydraulic pressure, and a condition determination unit for, in a case where the target gear ratio is an overdrive gear ratio, determining that at least part of rings of a belt is missing when the reference gear ratio is greater than or equal to a predetermined gear ratio and a drive pulley hydraulic pressure is greater than or equal to a predetermined hydraulic pressure.

In a belt type continuously variable transmission having a variable width drive pulley, a variable width driven pulley, and a metal V belt, which is disposed around the drive and driven pulleys, the contour of the surfaces (V faces) in contact with the metal V belt in the cross-sectional view through the axes of the drive and driven pulleys is an arc that has a first radius of curvature rp and is convex to the metal V belt. The contour of the surfaces (V faces) in contact with these two pulleys in the cross-sectional view perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the metal V belt is an arc that has a second radius of curvature re and is convex to the drive and driven pulleys.

A probe device having a contact probe including a film, a plurality of wiring patterns formed on the film with each wiring pattern having a front end portion projecting from the film so as to form contact pins, and a metal layer provided on the film. The durability of the metal element can be enhanced by devising the shape of the lower edge of the element body of the metal element in this manner.

Belt for non-stage transmissions

A belt for a continuously variable transmission includes a metal ring assembly formed of a plurality of endless metal rings laminated one on another, and a large number of metal elements each having a ring slot into which the metal ring assembly is fitted. In the belt, a crowning radius of the metal ring in a free state is set smaller than a crowning radius of a saddle face of the ring slot supporting the innermost metal ring. Thus, the metal ring assembly can be centered to a central portion of the saddle face, whereby a difference between a tensile stress at a central portion of an outer peripheral surface of the metal ring and a tensile stress at opposite ends of the outer peripheral surface can be reduced in an area where the metal belt is wound around a pulley, thereby preventing a reduction in durability.

The upper limit value 2.5&deg; of the angle &agr; is set as a rolling angle at which the driving force transmitting efficiency is a predetermined value or more, and the lower limit value 0.7&deg; of the angle &agr; is set as a rolling angle generated following the deformation of a V-face due to an axial thrust on a drive or driven pulley.

A protein having transcription inhibitory activity and lacking at least a part of regions other than a region having DNA binding activity in a transcriptional regulatory factor is provided. This protein can be obtained by isolating cDNA encoding a protein capable of binding to the transcriptional regulatory region of the gene transcription of which is to be inhibited, deleting from the cDNA at least a part of the regions other than the region having DNA-binding activity, inserting the resulting DNA into an appropriate vector, introducing said vector into cells to allow them to express the deleted gene, and isolating and purifying a protein showing the transcription inhibitory activity. For example, the protein can be used in the field of pharmaceuticals as a therapeutic agent. Its use in the field of gene therapy is also expected.

Transcriptional inhibitor protein and the encoding DNA

In a section near a rocking edge of each of metal elements used in a metal belt for a continuously variable transmission, a pair of protrusions are formed at laterally opposite ends of a front main surface opposed to a preceding metal element, and flat surface portions are formed on a rear main surface opposed to a succeeding metal element. The metal elements can be wound in a correct attitude around a pulley without being yawed by the contact of the protrusions and the flat surface portions with each other, whereby they can be prevented from being damaged. Further the metal elements contacting with each other in a chord section of the metal belt can slide laterally. Thus, a misalignment between a drive pulley and a driven pulley can be absorbed.
