A driving apparatus in a printing press includes a plate cylinder driven by a printing press motor, an inking device drive-coupled to the plate cylinder, and a driving connecting/disconnecting mechanism. The mechanism connects and disconnects transmission of driving from the plate cylinder to the inking device, and includes first and second gears which are engageable with each other, supported rotatably, and constantly drive-coupled to one and the remaining one, respectively, of the plate cylinder and inking device. The second gear has a second engaging portion engageable with a plurality of first engaging portions of the first gear which have the same shape and are equidistantly arranged in a rotational direction of the first gear. When the first and second engaging portions engage, the plate cylinder and inking device are drive-coupled; when they are disengaged, they are disconnected. The number of first engaging portions is set on the basis of a value related to the first gear, so that when the plate cylinder reaches a phase identical to that where the first and second engaging portions disengage, the first and second engaging portions can engage regardless of a driving connection ratio of one of the plate cylinder and inking device to the first gear.

Donepezil hydrochloride, 1-benzyl-4-[(5,6-dimethoxy-1-indanon)-2-yl]methylpiperidine hydrochloride, is provided here in the form of four polymorphs which are stable against heat and humidity in the pharmaceutical use. They can be industrially produced. They are specified by peaks in X-ray powder diffraction pattern and absorption peaks in infrared absorption spectra in potassium bromide.

Polyprenylcarboxylic acid morpholides and pharmaceutical compositions

There are disclosed polyprenyl sulfone derivatives of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein n represents an integer of 1-4, R.sub.1 represents an aryl group d R.sub.2 represents a hydroxymethyl or carboxyl group. The polyprenyl sulfone derivatives are prepared by cultivating a microorganism of the genus Nocardia capable of oxidizing a compound of the general formula: ##STR2## wherein n and R.sub.1 have the same meanings as defined above, in a culture medium containing a compound of the above general formula (II), and then collecting the oxidation product from the culture mixture. The polyprenyl sulfone derivatives are useful as intermediates for preparing various useful polyprenyl compounds.

1,3-Benzodioxol derivatives, the new compounds, represented by the formula: ##STR1## AND THE PHARMACOLOGICALLY ACCEPTABLE ACID-ADDITION SALTS THEREOF ARE PROVIDED, WHEREIN R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are lower alkyls or the both together may form a divalent alkylene, R.sub.3 is a lower alkyl, phenyl, halogen-substituted phenyl or benzhydryl group, n is an integer of 2 or 3, and X stands for carbonyl (CO) or methylene (CH.sub.2) bridge. The compounds in which X stands for the methylene exhibit durable anti-histamic activity with low toxicity, and are useful for therapeutic purposes, while the compounds in which X stands for the carbonyl bridge are easily convertible by reduction into the former compounds.

1,3-Benzodioxol derivatives, the new compounds, represented by the formula: ##STR1## and the pharmacologically acceptable acid-addition salts thereof are provided, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are lower alkyls or the both together may form a divalent alkylene, R.sub.3 is a lower alkyl, phenyl, halogen-substituted phenyl or benzhydryl group, n is an integer of 2 or 3, and X stands for carbonyl (CO) or methylene (CH.sub.2) bridge. The compounds in which X stands for the methylene exhibit durable anti-histamic activity with low toxicity, and are useful for therapeutic purposes, while the compounds in which X stands for the carbonyl bridge are easily convertible by reduction into the former compounds.

New meta-phenoxyphenyl propionic acid derivatives and pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof having excellent anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities with low toxicity are provided. The new compounds are adapted for therapeutical treatment of various inflammatory diseases by oral administration without injurious by-effects; successive administrations for an elongated period are not accompanied with an appreciable gastric irritability and the like.
