A motorcycle having an improved fuel tank arrangement with an opening in an upper side wall of the fuel tank that is closed by a combined fuel pump, closure plate and return port arrangement. The fuel is supplied to a fuel injection system through an arrangement including a filter and pressure regulator with the filter pressure regulator and opening all being positioned on the same side of the motorcycle and at relatively the same vertical height. The assembly may be removed from the opening without draining fuel due to its high placement in the opening.

A sensor arrangement for an internal combustion engine so as to provide a signal when one cylinder of the engine is at a pre-determined position. The sensor arrangement includes an inductive sensor that is mounted directly in the cam cover of the engine and which cooperates directly with one of the cam lobes.

Two embodiments of induction systems for internal combustion engines that improve mid range performance by providing a reflective device in the air inlet for the induction system that reflects negative pressure pulses back into the induction system so as to balance the pressure and reduce the deleterious effects of pulsations. In one embodiment, the reflective device is a fixed obturating member while in the other embodiment, the reflective device is an adjustably positioned valve member that is positioned in response to engine operating conditions such as engine speed.
