An information processing apparatus which allows a user to select programs that are interesting to the user and are current topics of conversation. The information processing apparatus includes: a first setting section for extracting a keyword from article information described in an RSS format and being delivered to the user, and giving a ranking to the extracted keyword; and a second setting section for acquiring at least one of program information on a program being received and program information on a recorded program, and giving a ranking to the program including, in the program information, the same keyword as a keyword having as far as a predetermined ranking among the keywords having rankings given by the first setting section.

An apparatus and method for computing resources existing in domestic network systems to be utilized with maximum efficiency. Condition of the connection of client apparatuses to a domestic network and overall computing resources of the domestic network are controlled by a personal computer functioning as a private server. When a personal digital assistant (PDA) outputs a request to a personal computer for downloading image data on a server, the image data is downloaded and stored in a hard disk area owned by the personal computer and offered to the PDA. A connection between the client apparatuses and the domestic network is constantly monitored. Even when any of the client apparatuses is provisionally disconnected from the network, proper service is continuously rendered by applying the computing resources offered to the client apparatus.

Then, a specified module containing descriptions of message-sending related procedures is invoked and one of said procedures that corresponds to the specified method is executed to retrieve the context data of the message-destination object. Then, the context data found in the above retrieval is modified to indicate that the object corresponding to the context data is under execution, and the message is passed from the message-sending source to the message destination object.
