A reference member which regulates a position of one side end of a sheet along the sheet conveying direction is provided at one side of a sheet conveying path in the width direction so as to follow the sheet conveying direction and to be rotatable about its downstream end portion in the sheet conveying direction. Then, one side end of the sheet is skew-conveyed toward the reference member by a plurality of pair of skew-conveying rollers which is arranged in the sheet conveying path along the sheet conveying direction. Then, when forming an image on both faces of the sheet, a control portion rotates the reference member so that the sheet is displaced to the center side in the sheet conveying path compared to the case of forming an image on one face of the sheet.

A skew feeding correction portion includes a first pair of skew-feed rollers that has rollers, a second pair of skew-feed rollers, a third pair of skew-feed rollers, as skewing at the downstream side of the second pair of skew-feed rollers, and a reference member that is arranged along a sheet conveying direction and that corrects the skew feeding of the sheet in such a manner that a side end of the sheet, which is conveyed as being skewed by the respective pairs of skew-feed rollers, is brought into contact with the reference member, wherein the first pair of skew-feed rollers releases the nip of the sheet by separating the rollers from each other before the sheet is nipped by the third pair of skew-feed rollers after the sheet is nipped by the second pair of skew-feed rollers.

Sheet conveying apparatus and image forming apparatus

There are provided a sheet conveying apparatus and an image forming apparatus, which enable stable sheet conveyance without depending on sheet size. An air suction portion having a duct portion for air suction is provided inwardly of an endless belt having a plurality of suction holes. Air is taken in through the suction holes of the endless belt and the duct portion for air suction by the air suction portion to absorb a sheet onto the endless belt. When the sheet having a sheet conveying direction length in which a sheet trailing end reaches the endless belt before a sheet leading end reaches a fixing device is conveyed, at least part of the portion of the duct portion through which the sheet trailing end passes before the sheet leading end reaches the fixing portion is closed by a shutter.

An image forming apparatus may include a transfer nip, a first conveyance belt, a second conveyance belt, a fixing nip, a fixing drive unit, and a control unit. The first conveyance belt conveys the sheet to which a toner image is transferred and fixed. The fixing drive unit drives the fixing nip so that the fixing nip conveys the sheet at a speed that is higher than the transfer speed in a high speed fixing mode in which the fixing nip fixes the toner image to the sheet while conveying the sheet. The control unit sets a circumferential speed of the first conveyance belt and a circumferential speed of the second conveyance belt so that the sheet bridging the first and second conveyance belts is pulled by the second conveyance belt to slide on the first conveyance belt in the high speed fixing mode.

A sheet conveying apparatus and an image forming apparatus are provided. The sheet conveying speed of a pair of conveying rollers which convey a sheet to a skew feeding correction deviceand can be contacted and separated is set to be a speed in which the sheet obliquely conveyed by a pair of first oblique feed rollers is warped between the pair of first oblique feed rollers and the pair of conveying rollers. After the sheet is warped, a separation mechanism is controlled to separate the pair of conveying rollers.
