A developing device that forms a toner image on an image carrier, including: a cleaning device that recovers a toner that remains on the image carrier; a recovered toner supply port to which a recovered toner is returned; a toner transporting section that transports the toner supplied from the recovered toner supply port within the developing device; a capturing section including a plurality of capturing members formed on a path along which the toner is transported by the toner transporting section, and capturing a foreign material; and a foreign-material removal member that moves along an elongating direction of the plurality of capturing members, and removes the foreign material captured by the plurality of capturing members.

Developing device and image forming apparatus using the same

A developing device includes (a) a developing member; (b) a developer container; (c) a partition member that partitions an interior of the developer container into a primary chamber and a secondary chamber; and (d) a developer-conveying unit that is disposed in the primary chamber, the developing device defining a collected-toner-receiving port through which a collected toner that is collected from a toner image carrier is received into the developer container; and a migration opening through which a developer held in the primary chamber is migratable to the secondary chamber, the developing device further including (e) a capturing unit that is disposed at the migration opening and captures a foreign material which migrates through the migration opening together with the developer; and (f) a foreign-material-removing unit that is disposed at the developer-conveying unit and moves the foreign material out of the developer container in accordance with the rotation of the developer-conveying.

Developing device and image-forming apparatus

An image forming member includes: an electrostatic latent image holding member that holds an electrostatic latent image; a developing unit that develops a toner image formed by a toner on a surface of the electrostatic latent image holding member; a toner removing member that removes a residual toner remaining on a surface of the electrostatic latent image holding member; a conveying path including a conveying member that is internally provided in the conveying path and that returns the residual toner removed from the surface of the electrostatic latent image holding member to the developing unit; and a trapping portion that traps a foreign matter conveyed by the conveying member, the electrostatic latent image holding member, the developing unit, the toner removing member, the conveying path, and the trapping portion of the image forming member being integrally and detachably attached to an image forming apparatus body.

A single-component developing apparatus comprising a developer holding member having a peripheral surface, a power supply section applying an AC developing bias voltage to the developer holding member, the AC developing bias voltage having a waveform with predetermined minimum value, maximum value and period, an electrostatic latent image receiving member opposing the developer holding member across a gap having predetermined width, a developer supplying section supplying a developer to the developer holding member, and a developer regulating member forming developer into a thin layer on the peripheral surface of the developer holding member by pressing on the developer holding member. In this arrangement the developer holding member transports the thin layer of developer towards the electrostatic latent image receiving member, and the transported thin layer of developer flies from the developer holding member across the gap to the electrostatic latent image receiving member in accordance with the AC developing bias voltage. Single-component developing apparatus

A developing apparatus is disclosed, comprising a cylindrical developer support member which is provided facing an electrostatic latent image support member and transports developer attached to the surface, a developer controlling member which contacts the round surface of the developer support member under pressure to control the quantity of developer thereon, forming a thin layer of developer, and side seal members which contact the round surface of end portions of the developer support member and face the end portions of the developer controlling member along the axis of the developer support member to prevent leakage of developer, and whose side seal members do not contact the developer controlling member or contact it under a pressure which does not constrain the displacement of the developer controlling member.

Developing apparatus

An apparatus for detecting and controlling a the exhaustion of toner in a developing unit of an image recording device which forms an electrostatic latent image on a latent image carrier by exposure in response to image signals and develops the electrostatic latent image to a toner image to be recorded. The apparatus includes a detection unit for detecting a presence or absence of toner in the developing unit under a condition that a power of the image recording equipment is turned on and an interlock is released, and a drive unit for driving the developing unit and the toner supplying mechanism for a predetermined period of time when the toner is exhausted as is detected by the detection unit, wherein the detection unit detects again a presence or absence of toner in the developing unit after the drive unit drives the developing unit and the toner supplying mechanism.
