A manual transmission includes: a shift selection shaft (); a shift inner lever () including an arm portion () provided on an outer side of a tubular portion () so as to project outwardly in a radial direction; an interlock plate () including a projection () provided on an outer side of a boss portion () so as to project outwardly in the radial direction; and a reverse shift arm () supported by a transmission case (C) via a bracket () in a pivoting manner. The bracket is provided with a regulation portion () for regulating inclination of the interlock plate at the time of a shift operation.

Manual transmission

In a shift mechanism for a change-speed gearing in a power transmission unit, a spring loaded movable element in the form of a piston is slidably disposed within a reverse shift head member to be pushed inwardly by engagement with a shift-and-select lever, and a stopper pin is integral with the movable element and movable between a first position in which the movable element is apart from the lever and a second position in which the movable element is engaged with the lever, the stopper pin being arranged to be located at its outer end adjacent to a stationary member to restrict unexpected forward movement of a reverse fork shaft in its first position and to be aligned with a recessed portion of the stationary member to permit the forward movement of the reverse fork shaft in its second position for establishment of a reverse gear train.

Shift mechanism for power transmissions

A power transmission unit comprises a transmission casing shaped to conform with a change-speed gearing contained therein, the change-speed gearing including an output mainshaft rotatably supported from the rear end wall of the casing, and an extension housing secured in a fluid-tight manner to the rear end wall of the casing to form a lubricant chamber in open communication with the interior of the casing through the upper portion of the wall. In the transmission unit, an oil flow control device is provided in the bottom wall of the transmission casing to transfer lubricating oil into and from the lubricant chamber.

A reverse shift mechanism for a power transmission unit comprises a plurality of fork shafts slidably supported from a transmission casing in parallel with each other to be shifted by an operator's shift lever, a shift head fixed to one of the fork shafts, a shift arm rotatably supported by the shift head at its intermediate portion and being pivoted at its lower end on a portion of the transmission casing, and a shift fork slidably mounted on another one of the fork shafts and being rotatably supported by the upper end of the shift arm, the shift fork receiving thereon a reverse idler gear to shift it toward and away from a reverse drive gear and a reverse output gear.

Reverse shift mechanism for power transmission unit

In a power transmission unit, a protrusion is provided on an inner wall of the transmission housing to be splashed with lubricating oil pumped up by rotation of an idler gear on the idler shaft, and an oil receiver is arranged under the protrusion to receive the lubricating oil dropping from the protrusion thereby to convey the oil into the bearing at one side of the idler shaft.

Lubricating device for power transmission unit

A shift control mechanism is provided for a multipleforward-speed manual transmission with controlled operation of the shift lever between the reverse drive position and one forward drive position to prevent inadvertent shifting which might damage the transmission. A transmission lever whose movement is controlled through the shift lever is formed with a first projection extending therefrom which is adapted to engage a second projection extending from a housing. The housing is rotatably and linearly movable under the biasing force of spring means and when the shift lever is moved to the neutral position, engagement between the first and second projections will cause rotative movement of the housing. When the shift lever is moved to the one forward drive position, the spring means will rotate the housing back to its initial position thereby placing the second projection within the path of movement of the first projection. Any subsequent attempt to move the shift lever from the one forward drive position to the reverse drive position will be blocked in a manner which will not interfere with otherwise appropriate shifting of the transmission. The control mechanism may be configured to prevent erroneous shifting in both directions between the reverse drive position and the one forward drive position or, alternatively, shifting may be blocked in one direction only.
