A slot array antenna includes: a first electrically conductive member having a first electrically conductive surface; a second electrically conductive member having a second electrically conductive surface opposed to the first electrically conductive surface; a waveguide member located between the first and second electrically conductive members; and an artificial magnetic conductor extending on both sides of the waveguide member in between the first and second electrically conductive members. The first or second electrically conductive member has a plurality of slots. The waveguide member includes an electrically-conductive waveguide face of a stripe shape opposed to the first electrically conductive surface. The plurality of slots include at least two slots that couple to the waveguide face. In between two positions respectively coupled to the two slots, the waveguide face includes at least one deflecting portion at which the direction that the waveguide face extends changes.

An original image which is painted with at least first and second colors is subjected to a coloring process wherein a pixel block of M.times.N pixels in an original image is replaced by a representative pixel to generate a low density image. Then a subject image area is specified in the low density image, and the subject image area is painted with a desired color. The low density image is then magnified to form a high density image, and the high density image and the original image are compared with each other whereby another image is composed from the two images. Black image areas in the composed image area are finally changed to white. In the composed image, the desired color is allocated to pixels which have the desired color in the high density image and which are black in the original image while 'white' is allocated to the other pixels. Pin holes, which are not specified as subject image areas, are not filed with the desired color, and are eliminated simultaneously when the subject image area is filled with the desired color.

A target region and a pin hole size are specified in a block copy image, which is divided into plural separate regions. The size of each separate region in the target region is calculated and compared with the pin hole size. The separate region smaller than the pin hole size is extracted as a possible pin hole area and filled with the color of its surrounding area, thereby the pin holes are eliminated.

An apparatus for transferring data in a time-sharing mode includes a plurality of modules connected to a common bus line for transferring data therethrough, a bus controller for controlling a time-sharing transfer of data between the modules, and a system controller connected to the modules and bus controller through a bidirectional command line. The system controller is operable, upon receipt of a data transfer request or data transfer completion notice from certain of the modules, to command the bus controller to generate or eliminate a bus slot. Then, the bus controller sets a new bus slot to a bus cycle, or eliminates a designated slot from the bus cycle, thereby to vary the number of slots constituting the bus cycle. Slot enable signals corresponding to the respective slots are transmitted to the modules through the bus line. Each module successively compares a slot number and slot enable signals, and exchanges data with the bus line upon agreement between the slot number and slot enable signals.

A block copy image is divided into several regions R1 and R6, to which different system colors are allocated. A subject region PR including a line break CP1 is specified by an operator. Run-length data of a run-length less than or equal to a predetermined threshold value is automatically detected out of various run-length data representing the subject region PR. White/black designation data defining the color of an image in the run-length data is changed into the color of a linework. The break CP1 in the linework is thus reconnected without operator's instruction. Alternatively, the subject region PR is divided into two portions. The two portions are further divided into separate areas to which different system colors are allocated. This enables an operator to easily detect the position of a line break because the linework elements separated by a break have different colors. The break is then reconnected according to operator's instruction.

A target image area CR2, specified by an operator, is expanded by a predetermined width d to produce overlapping image areas CR4 and CR5. Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for processing binary-coded image data. A peripheral picture element region of a predetermined size is set up around a target picture element which is to be processed. Logical windows are established around their corresponding divided picture elements which have been obtained by dividing the target picture element into n.times.n pieces. In the respective logical windows, the areas of data regions '1' divided in accordance with the logical values are determined. The areas are compared with a predetermined value to obtain comparison results. Predetermined logical values are again given to the data on the divided picture elements located centrally in their corresponding logical windows in accordance with their corresponding comparison results. Data on the above-processed divided picture elements are then output upon outputting data on the target picture element. Owing to the establishment of the logical windows, the present invention has facilitated the preparation of high-resolution data useful in a smoothening operation which takes peripheral picture elements into consideration.

A bilevel original is read in the form of multi-gradation image data stored as 3 by 3 pixels in a latch circuit. An ROM stores data of bilevel image patterns higher in resolution than the multi-gradation image data. The stored data are related to every combination of gradation values of a central pixel in 3 by 3 image regions and data patterns of peripheral pixels thereof. The image data stored in the latch circuit are supplied as an address input to the ROM, which in turn outputs corresponding high-resolution bilevel image pattern data.
