Shooting is performed upon full depression of a shutter button, and a taken image is recorded in a memory card as an image file. An LCD displays the taken image and a print number thereof. The print number is adjusted by pressing addition and subtraction buttons. Upon pressing a decision button, number data of the print number is inputted. The number data is recorded in the memory card so as to relate to the image file. Incidentally, in case the shutter button is pressed by half without inputting the number data, the print number is set to one, and next shooting is allowed. The above operation is repeated until entire shooting is completed.

After first, second, and third continuous members are bonded to each other in a laminated state, they are cut together to a predetermined length for thereby producing an instant photography film unit. A predetermined number of produced instant photography film units are stacked in a stacking station, and then automatically placed into a film pack in a packaging station. A photographic film cassette has photographic film wound on a spool and rotatably contained in a cassette shell. A leader of the photographic film is caused by rotation of the spool to advance outward from a passage mouth thereof. Two positioning holes are formed in an end face of the cassette shell on an advancing side as inserted into a cassette receiving chamber of a camera, and are fittable on projections of a camera when the cassette shell is loaded therein. A DX code pattern and a use-condition signaling structure are disposed adjacently on the cassette shell, and represent respectively a sensitivity of the photographic film and a condition of use thereof, both of which are detected by a single sensor unit of the camera.

A photo film cassette contains a spool in rotatable fashion, with a photo film wound thereabout as a roll. Rotation of the spool in an unwinding direction causes the photo film to exit through a passage port. Upper and lower shell halves constitute a cassette shell. Two combinations of a retaining hook and a receiving portion are disposed on the cassette shell and respectively beside the passage port. Both hooks are formed on the lower shell half. Both receiving portions are formed on the upper shell half, are engaged with the hook, and fixedly secure the shell halves. The hooks and the receiving portions are shaped straight along a width of the photo film. A pair of second receiving portions are formed on the upper shell half, and are engaged with the hooks prior to engagement of the first receiving portions with the hooks. The second receiving portions keep the upper shell half partially separate from the lower shell half, and retain the shell halves in preliminary fashion, before the shell halves are joined up. In a preferred embodiment, a hinge section is disposed in the cassette shell in opposition to the passage port, and connects the shell halves in swingable fashion. Two access openings are formed in the cassette shell for rendering the hooks respectively accessible externally, to allow external disengagement of the hooks.

A photographic film strip has a leader and a trailer, and is to be contained in a cassette having a rotatable spool. A first group of anchoring holes is formed in the trailer along a distal edge thereof, to be anchored on the spool. A second group of anchoring holes is formed at a position which is displaced from the first anchoring hole group toward the leader, and is utilized when the film strip is contained in a preserving cassette after development. In a preferred embodiment, a train of metering perforations are formed along a first lengthwise edge of the photographic film strip of regular intervals so as to be detected by a camera in order to detect positions of original frames. A plurality of take-up holes are formed in the leader, and adapted to being caught by a take-up spool of a camera. The take-up holes are out of alignment with the perforations. The camera has a cassette chamber. A fork is disposed in the cassette chamber over an exposure aperture, and is engaged with one spool end of the cassette on the side of the train of perforations, in order to rotate the spool. An area for recording data is formed on the photographic film strip along a second lengthwise edge which is opposite to the first edge. A magnetic recording head of the camera records data on to the recording area, and is disposed under the exposure aperture.

Photographic film cassette

A film cassette comprises a light-shielding door for preventing ambient light from entering the cassette interior, a film spool supported for rotation in film unwinding and film winding directions, and a locking device supported for movement into engagement with the spool to secure the spool and out of engagement with the spool to release the spool. According to the invention, the door is supported for closing movement to prevent ambient light from entering the cassette interior and for opening movement, and includes a cam for moving the locking device into engagement with the spool responsive to closing movement of the door. Also, the locking device is resilient to permit it to be temporarily deformed should it be obstructed from being moved by the cam to engage the spool and the light-shielding door is forcibly closed, or should it be engaging the spool and the spool is forcibly rotated in the film unwinding and winding directions.

A film cassette adapted to be opened and closed comprises a film spool supported for rotation, and a lock for inhibiting rotation of the film spool when the cassette is closed and allowing the film spool to rotate when the cassette is opened. According to the invention, a retainer keeps the lock in place to make it inhibit rotation of the film spool when the cassette is opened, but allows the film spool to be initially forcibly rotated to move the lock out of place to then allow the film spool to be freely rotated. Thus, the film spool must be rotated to discontinue the affect of the lock after the cassette is opened.

A photographic camera has a fork disposed in a cassette receiving chamber to be coupled to a spool core of a photographic film cassette. Photographic film from the photographic film cassette is wound on a take-up reel disposed in a photographic film take-up chamber. A magnetic head is disposed on a frame of an exposure aperture, and reads/writes data on a magnetic recording area of the photographic film. A brake pad applies load to the fork, and keeps the photographic film in such a tension as to ensure flatness during the one-frame feeding. A guide member is formed to project from an inner wall of the photographic film take-up chamber. When a photographic film leader is advanced into the photographic film take-up chamber, the photographic film leader is guided downstream from the take-up reel against a curling tendency.
