The controller controls the display to display a selection screen via which a frame image to be stored as a still image is selected from the movie data. The controller moves a frame position of the candidate image based on the position indicated by the first marker information or the second marker information in a case where the operation receiver receives the instruction.

A generator generates attribute information regarding a video image, which is captured by an imaging unit by capturing a plurality of capture directions, on a predetermined unit of video content. A composition map generator extracts a predetermined object, based on the attribute information of the video images captured in the plurality of capture directions within a predetermined period, and generates a composition map indicating a position of the extracted object. A comparator determines priority orders in the respective pieces of shooting of the respective capture directions based on a comparison result obtained by comparing pieces of the attribute information, for each of the capture directions and based on the attribute information included in the composition map. A camera work controller determines a next capture direction based on the priority orders, and controls operations of the imaging unit and a camera pantilter based on the determined capture direction.

The new image generated from the captured image becomes a favorable image that is easy to see for a viewer, and particularly a more smooth and natural image, without any skilled imaging techniques during capturing.

According to the present invention, in converting an interlaced signal in 4:2:0 format into an interlaced signal in 4:2:2 format, diagonal correlation is detected using a luminance signal and color-difference signals are also interpolated diagonally based on a result of the detection. As a result, the quality of the image represented by the color-difference signals can be improved and the signal can be converted into the 4:2:2 format with the block noise of the color-difference signals, which could be produced in an MPEG decoded image in the 4:2:0 format, reduced.
