Valve operating device and method of overriding a malfunctioning valve operating device

The following invention relates to a subsea actuator () for actuating a subsea rotating component (); comprising: a first biasing element (); a motor (); a holding element () configured to receive an input force; a rotatable stem () operatively connectable to the component; a force transmitting arrangement () connectable to the first biasing clement () and the holding element (); a first connection which in a first mode is configured to lock the stem () in a rotatable engagement with the motor () and in a second mode is configured to unlock the stem () from the rotatable engagement with the motor () and allow the stem () to be influenced by the first biasing element (); wherein the first biasing element () and the stem () are releasably connected via the force transmitting arrangement (), such that when the first biasing element () and the stem () are released from each other, the first biasing element () is configured to be pre-tensioned to a position representing a first pre-tensioned position of the actuator () without operating the stem (); the holding element () is configured to exert a holding force on the force transmitting arrangement () and the first biasing element () in the first pre-tensioned position; and wherein, when the first biasing element () and the stem () are connected and the first biasing element () is pre-tensioned, the first connection is in the first mode such that the motor () is configured to operate the stem () to a position representing a second pre-tensioned position of the actuator (); wherein, in the second pre-tensioned position, upon loss of input force to the holding element (), the holding element () is configured to release its holding force on the force transmitting arrangement () and the first biasing element (), thereby the first connection is unlocked to its second mode, such that the pre-tensioned first biasing element () is released and rotates the stent () to a position representing a release position of the actuator ().

Subsea actuator and method of actuating a subsea actuator

The present invention relates to a subsea hydraulic control device () for hydraulically controlling a subsea module (). The control device () comprises a hydraulic distribution unit () with a valve unit () and a manifold unit (), where hydraulic fluid lines are provided in the valve unit () and in the manifold unit (). The hydraulic distribution unit () comprises a low pressure hydraulic input port () connectable to a low pressure fluid source (LP) and connected to a low pressure fluid line () within the hydraulic distribution unit (), a high pressure hydraulic input port () connectable to a high pressure fluid source (HP) and connected to a high pressure fluid line () within the hydraulic distribution unit (), a return port () connectable to a return fluid reservoir (R) and connected to a return fluid line () within the hydraulic distribution unit () and a number of hydraulic output ports () connectable to subsea actuators (A) of the subsea module (). A section of the low pressure fluid line () is provided as a first fluid bore (B) in the manifold unit () and a section of the high pressure fluid line () is provided as a second fluid bore (B) in the manifold unit (). The configuration of the respective bores (B, B) in the manifold unit () is determining which of the output ports () being a low pressure output port () connected to the low pressure fluid line () and which of the output ports () being a high pressure output port () connected to the high pressure fluid line ().

Subsea hydraulic control device and a method for producing thereof

The present invention relates to a subsea control valve () for controlling the supply of hydraulic fluid to a subsea fluid-actuated device (). The valve comprises a housing () with an input fluid line bore () connectable to a input fluid system (), a return fluid line bore () connectable to a return fluid system () and an actuator fluid line bore () connectable to the fluid-actuated device (). A ball valve member () with a through bore () is pivotably connected within the housing () between the input fluid line bore (), the return fluid line bore () and the actuator fluid line bore (), the ball valve member () having a first and a second position. The actuator fluid line bore () and the return fluid line bore () are connected to each other via the through bore () when the ball valve member () is in its first position, thereby allowing fluid to be returned from the fluid-actuated device () to the return fluid system (). The input fluid line bore () and the actuator fluid line bore () are connected to each other via the through bore () when the ball valve member () is in its second position, thereby allowing fluid to flow from the input fluid system () to the fluid-actuated device ().

Subsea control valve

The present invention relates to a subsea electric power and communication module () for controlling a subsea module () of a subsea oil/gas installation (). The module () comprises a housing (), a first outer connector () provided outside of the housing (), where the first outer connectors () is configured to be connected to a subsea module (), and a control device () comprising electric power supply circuitry () and/or communication circuitry ()provided within the pressure sealed compartment (). A penetrator device () is connected between the first outer connector () and the control device (). The penetrator device () comprises a printed circuit board (), a first sealing device () and a second sealing device () for sealing off a first area (A) and a second area (A) of the printed circuit board (). The first area (A) is faced towards the main compartment (), while the second area (A) is faced towards a pressure balanced compartment () between the pressure sealed main compartment () and an outside environment (OE) of the housing (). A first inner connector (C) is connected to the first area (A) of the printed circuit board (), where the first inner connector (C) is further connected to the control device (). A second inner connector (C) is connected to the second area (A) of the printed circuit boar (), where the second inner connector (C) is further connected to the outer connector (). Conductive tracks () are provided on the printed circuit board () between the first inner connector (C) and the second inner connector (C).

Subsea electric power and communication module

The following invention relates to an actuator for controlling a valve () in a subsea installation, the valve having a spring () to return the valve to a failsafe condition upon loss of pressure. The actuator comprises an actuator module () that is exchangeably connected to the valve and comprising a cylinder with a movable piston (), the piston being mechanically connected to said valve element, a fluid pump () operatively connected to said hydraulic cylinder, said pump adapted to supply fluid through a first hydraulic line () operatively connected between said hydraulic cylinder and said pump, said hydraulic line supplying a sufficient pressure to move the piston to said second position to cause the valve element to move to its second position, and a second hydraulic line () providing a fluid passage between the first hydraulic line and a reservoir () whereby a bypass control unit () is located in said second hydraulic line and comprising a movable element operating to open or close said fluid passage through the second hydraulic line providing a failsafe function to the valve. According to the invention a third hydraulic line () is connected to the second hydraulic line and acting on the movable element, forcing the control unit towards opening said passage.

Actuator for a valve

In accordance with the present invention, these and other problems in the prior art are addressed by providing a valve which comprises a valve body which includes an passage that extends at least partially therethrough, a valve seat which is formed in the passage, a valve member which is movably positioned in the passage proximate the valve seat, a first sealing element which is supported on the valve member and which in a closed position of the valve engages the valve seat to block fluid flow through the passage, and a protective member which is movable relative to the valve member between a first position in which the protective member substantially covers the first sealing element when the valve is in the open position and a second position in which the protective member is retracted from the first sealing element when the valve is in the closed position.

Protection of a seal element

The invention is directed to a pressure bleed device for a hydraulic coupling which includes a male component that comprises a body, a flow passage which extends generally axially through the body, a valve seat which is formed proximate one end of the flow passage, and a valve element which is biased into sealing engagement with the valve seat to thereby close the flow passage. The pressure bleed device includes a bleed passage which extends through the body and communicates with the flow passage, and a valve for selectively opening the bleed passage when an internal pressure within the flow passage is greater than an external pressure outside the body. Thus, when the flow passage is closed, excess internal pressure within the flow passage is vented outside the body through the bleed passage.

An actuator system for actuating a valve in a subsea environment comprises a valve spindle that is arranged to be coupled to an electric motor. To provide for power to the motor, at least one local electrical storage unit is provided. The system also includes a control unit comprising switching means for controlling the power to the motor. The control unit includes an intelligent processor and is arranged to receive signals from external sensors measuring a number of external and internal parameters, The actuator is preferable housed in a modular cage for easy replacement.
