A belt tensioner for a mechanical power transmission such as in a motor vehicle engine. The belt tensioner includes a wheel for bearing against the belt and a resilient return device for ensuring that the wheel bears against the belt with pre-stress. The wheel further includes a covering of vibration absorbing material. The invention is particularly applicable to mechanical engineering and specifically to the car industry.

A decoupling device comprising first and second coaxial elements in mutual rotary driving engagement and including resilient decoupling means enabling relative angular displacement for decoupling purposes between the first and second elements. The decoupling members comprise at least one fin carried by the first element and at least one first and one second abutment carried by the second element and angularly spaced apart one from the other, and at least one first and one second resilient device interposed between the fin(s) and the first and second abutments, respectively.

An automatic tensioner for a synchronous transmission toothed belt, including a roller adapted to cooperate with the belt and an actuator comprising within a cylindrical body: a piston pierced by a multiplicity of channels delimiting therein a pressure chamber and a supply chamber for a hydraulic fluid, a push rod secured to the piston and whose motion is suitable for being transmitted to the roller, a compression spring urging the piston towards the supply chambers, and a non-return valve received in the pressure chamber to open or close said channel, thereby allowing or preventing hydraulic fluid to pass between the pressure chamber and the supply chamber, when a lip of said valve comes into contact with or moves away from its seat in order to close or open said channels.
