An alarm system having improved acoustic signal transmitting capability is provided for motor vehicles. The radio speaker system of the vehicle is employed for both passenger listening and for warning signal transmission in the event of unauthorized intrusion or attempted theft. The speakers occupy their usual installation positions in a vehicle, such as horizontally mounted in the dashboard, when used for the purpose of listening to a radio or tape. When the vehicle is unoccupied, and theft or tampering are attempted, an alarm system is activated which causes a control element to swivel the speaker into a position parallel to an external surface of the vehicle. Due to this repositioning of the speaker, reflection of an alarm signal back into the interior of the vehicle is minimized, and transmission of the alarm signal to the outside of the vehicle is optimized.

A central locking system with a two-door control for motor vehicles, in which certain locking operations are precluded in dependance on the position of the key of a starter switch of the driving engine. In order to prevent an unitentional locking of the vehicle doors under certain operating conditions, means are provided according to the present invention which enable a locking actuation of the central locking system exclusively by the interior actuating element of the driver door on the steering column side when the key is in the starter whereas only a mechanical locking of the individual front door on the passenger side is possible by way of the interior actuating element of this passenger door.

Central locking system with two-door control for motor vehicles

A lock for vehicle closures or flaps, especially doors, trunk lids and fuel tank caps or lids, wherein the cylinder of the lock includes a drain opening in the lower part thereof which communicates with the interior of the cylinder and through which moisture, especially water, can be drained from the interior of the lock. A drain line formed as a moisture absorbing wick provided with an electric heating element powered by the vehicle electric system is connected to the drain opening with the line being guided from the cylinder through an element, such as a door handle, containing the cylinder, to the interior of the closure. A water deflecting shield overlies the portion of the drain line within the closure. The drain line terminates in a vertically disposed drain section from which moisture drained from the cylinder can evaporate or drip off. The drain line may be operatively associated with a vacuum source on the vehicle to assist in drawing off moisture from the cylinder. Energization of the heating element ensures sufficient evaporation of moisture from the drain line even under highly unfavorable weather conditions.

Moisture protection and drainage arrangement for motor vehicle closure

A cylinder lock which includes plate tumblers in a lock cylinder and a locking channel arranged in a lock casing wherein, when the key is pulled out (locked position of the lock), spring-loaded plate tumblers engage with their locking ends into the locking channel up to an extension length determined by locking stops. The lock casing is provided with an escape channel diametrically opposed to the locking channel for enabling a free resetting motion of the plate tumblers with their counter ends during an insertion of the key. The plate tumblers have, in their key cutouts, tumbler edges arranged at levels corresponding with an associated key cutout depth and, with a key being inserted (free position of the lock), can be reset into the lock cylinder. Stops are provided for limiting the resetting motion of the individual plate tumblers in the escape channel at insertion depths and a varying arrangement of the blocking stops is made in dependence upon a height of the respective tumbler edge.

A rotary cylinder lock with a lock cylinder rotatable in a casing, preferably a door handle housing of a motor vehicle, with the lock cylinder being pivotable into closed and open positions by at least one key associated therewith and insertable in the lock cylinder. The rotary cylinder lock is constructed such that a second key can be inserted into the lock cylinder with the second key having, at a location other than in cases of the main key, notches or projections or the like controlling additional locking members. The second key actuates, by pivoting, a switching unit which, if necessary, triggers a safety device so as to prevent unauthorized use of the motor vehicle.

Rotary cylinder lock, especially for automotive vehicles

A locking mechanism for lids, hoods, flaps and/or doors, especially in motor vehicles, which cooperates with a cylinder lock whose lock cylinder is provided with a lock part adapted to be pressed-in against the force of a spring. The lock part includes, at its cylindrical outer surface, a pressure pin which is swung by rotation from an operating position to a non-operating position. In addition to the pressure pin, a lug is arranged at the outer surface of the lock part adapted to be pressed-in. The lug is operatively connected with an additional locking mechanism in such a manner that the additional locking mechanism becomes operable only over a limited rotary range of the lock cylinder adjoining the inoperable position of the pressure pin--as viewed in the locking direction.

A cylinder lock, especially for motor vehicles, consisting of a rotor with tumblers, which is operatively connected with locking elements; with a key pulled off in the locking position, the tumblers engage in a tumbler channel provided in the inner wall of a stator receiving the rotor; a cut-in or groove constructed as intentional breaking or rupturing place is provided in the rotor adjoining the last tumbler, as viewed in the key insertion direction, which ruptures when a springily engaging locking action between the rotor and the stator not accessible from the outside has taken place during a forcible pulling out of the rotor.

A door guide for a rear door or tailgate of a station wagon with the guide including a first member, fixed to a body portion of the station wagon, having at least one wedge-shaped recess which is adapted to receive a projection of a second fitting member, fixed to the door or tailgate, when the door or tailgate is closed. The second member includes a metallic base body with the projections thereof having, in run-in zones, two opposed recesses. An elastic abrasion-resistant material is applied by an extrusion coating on the base body with a projecting bead-like elevation of material being provided at the projections. The bead-like material is adapted to be at least partly forced into extrusion-coated recesses in the process of closing the door or tailgate.

A door lock for motor vehicles, in which a lock cylinder is connected with a lock tumbler by way of an insertable entrainment rod, whereby the lock cylinder is inserted together with a door handle into an aperture provided in the outer body panel of the door; an anti-theft device which is connected with the lock cylinder, engages from behind a locking projection provided at the door.
