A method and apparatus for analyzing a substance is disclosed. An optical medium is arranged on a substance surface with at least one region of the optical medium surface in contact with the substance surface. An excitation light beam is emitted through the contacting region of the medium surface (to the substance surface. A measurement light beam is emitted through the optical medium to the contacting region of the medium surface such that the measurement light beam and the excitation light beam overlap on the interface of the optical medium and of the substance surface, on which the measurement light beam is reflected. A deflection of the reflected measurement light beam is detected in dependence on the wavelength of the excitation light beam. The substance is then analyzed based on the detected deflection of the measurement light beam in dependence on the wavelength of the excitation light beam.

The disclosure relates to a photoacoustic sensor head for detecting acoustic signals which are excited in a sample by absorption of pulsed measuring light, comprising a contact prism which is transparent for the measuring light and has a sample contact surface, a detection surface arranged opposite the sample contact surface and a light entrance surface arranged adjacent to the detection surface, as well as means for radiating the measuring light through the light entrance surface in the direction of the sample contact surface, wherein a detection device comprising at least one sound transducer is arranged in a manner covering the detection surface, characterized in that those portions of the measuring light which are reflected at the sample contact surface are directed to the detection surface or to the light entrance surface, wherein a material layer containing a material which absorbs the measuring light is arranged between the detection surface and the detection device.

Photo-acoustic sensor head and photo-acoustic measuring apparatus with improved interference signal suppression

A method comprises a) radiating at least one measurement light pulse having a pulse duration and intensity onto a measurement area of the inhomogeneous sample; b) detecting at least one pressure transient at the measurement area; and c) calculating a value for the energy density absorbed by the sample during the pulse duration from a curve of the at least one pressure transient at the start and at the end of the at least one measurement light pulse. The method further includes: repeating steps a) to c) for different angles of incidence of the measurement light; modelling the inhomogeneous sample as a stack of layers, each layer being assigned at least a layer thickness and an absorption coefficient, at least one absorption coefficient of a layer being a fitting parameter; and performing a fitting procedure for the fitting parameters; outputting the fitted fitting parameters.

The invention relates to a pressure sensor which can be incorporated into textile products. The pressure sensor includes a multilayer thread having a pressure sensitive layer exhibiting a pressure-dependent electrical resistance, and a conductive layer in contact with the pressure sensitive layer. Further, the sensor includes conductive threads in contact with the multilayer thread.
