Knife cylinder for processing weblike material

A pair of engaged cylinders of a machine for processing a continuous web or sheets passing between the cylinder nip has shafts journalled at opposite ends in a machine frame with first bearings mounted in the machine on the shafts, and auxiliary casings supporting second bearings on the shafts and located inboard of the first bearings. Pairs of the casings having a gap therebetween are mounted on the frame for adjustment relative to the frame and to one another in a direction perpendicular to the shafts, and at least one pressure medium cylinder acts between the frame and at least one of the casings in such direction for adjusting the size of the gap between the casings and for thus adjusting the size of the nip between the cylinders.

Machine for processing a continuous web of sheets

A pair of engaged cylinders of a machine for processing a continuous web or sheets passing between the cylinder nip has shafts journaled at opposite ends in a machine frame with pairs of first and second bearings for the shafts mounted on the machine frame for relative adjustment to each other and to the frame for adjusting the sides of the nip between the cylinders, at least one adjustable pressure medium cylinder acting between the frame and one of the casings of each pair being provided for effecting force flows to travel along parallel planes which contain the casing and bearing pair.

Machine for processing a continuous web or sheets

A knife cylinder for processing a continuous web has a plurality of knife blades mounted therein by metallic bellows cylinders located in grooves which receive the knife blades. At least one force transmission element is likewise located in each groove between the blade and the bellows cylinders, or between the bellows cylinders and an opposing wall of the groove. Such elements contain pressure medium passageways connected with a pressure medium generating assembly for internally pressurizing the bellows.

An apparatus for rapidly changing a plurality of knives secured within a knife cylinder of a paper cutting or perforating machine includes a pressure generator for pressurizing a plurality of pressure cylinders which actuate a force transmission mechanism for bracing the knives securely within the knive cylinder. A pressure conduit system includes a device for admitting a pressure medium into the system and a device for bleeding the system. A biasing mechanism is provided to maintain pressure within the conduit system.

Knife cylinder for working weblike material

A folding apparatus for the zigzag folding of a web includes an oscillating multi-section guide channel device comprising upper and lower funnels pivotally interconnected and a pair of web drawing rolls located in the immediate vicinity of the pivot axis about which the funnels are connected. The lower and upper ends of the walls of the respective funnels lie on opposite sides of the drawing rolls, and at least one of the ends of one of such walls is spaced from the rolls in the direction of web movement for defining at least one opening in the vicinity of such pivot axis for the entry of air into at least one funnel. The proximity of the rollers to the pivot axis and the contoured light weight metal walls reduce inertia forces during oscillating movement of the device and the migration of air with the web facilitate running of the web through the device so as to increase the operating speed of the folding apparatus.

Zigzag folding apparatus having means for decreasing inertial forces

A device for controlling the actuation of gripping means provided in a sheet assembling apparatus includes stationary and rotatable cam plates each having different and predetermined profiles, the rotatable cam plate being mounted eccentrically relative to the axis of the sheet collecting cylinder provided for the apparatus. The gripping means includes a follower roll in rolling engagement with the peripheral edge of the stationary cam plate to effect actuation of gripping fingers. The rotatable cam plate rotates together with the cylinder although it is capable of being shifted relative thereto about the cylinder axis whereby to prevent actuation of the gripping means as the follower roll engages at least one portion of the rotatable cam plate which may be shifted to overlie a cam portion of the stationary cam plate.
