A bearer, especially a longitudinal bearer of a motor vehicle frame, which is constructed as hollow profile and includes a deformable section dissipating impact energy; the walls of the longitudinal bearer have different strength characteristics as a result of a treatment of these areas changing the strength of the wall material compared to non-treated areas; a greater strength thereby exists in the treated wall areas than in the untreated areas.

Hollow bearer for vehicles and method for its manufacture

A pivotal hood-like structure, especially for use in motor vehicles, for covering a separate aggregate space underneath an engine hood which accommodate a windshield wiper installation arranged between the engine space and the passenger space within the area underneath the windshield. After turning on the windshield wiper installation, the hood-like structure is initially pivoted into and held in a first open position for the operation of the windshield wiper arms, and after turning off the windshield wiper installation, the hood-like structure is returned into the closed position by the force of a spring. The hood-like structure may be manually pivoted into a second wide open position, so as to permit easy access to the aggregate space for purposes of maintenance. A pivot axis of the hood-like structure is arranged so that it is pivoted into the aggregate space during the opening thereof.

Hollow bearer for vehicles

A forward longitudinal bearer of a motor vehicle constructed as closed, hollow bearer with an impact-near energy-absorbing part which is so composed section-wise that three series-connected zones result, of which the center zone is located within the area of aggregate support points and exceeds the two adjoining zones as regards their rigidity by the use of materials of increased strength and/or greater wall thickness.

A motor vehicle, especially a passenger motor vehicle which includes a windshield frame and a rigid section of the vehicle body upper part that can be displaced rearwardly in the vehicle longitudinal direction and is guided inside of the fixed side walls of the vehicle body lower part; the guide means for the displaceable section of the vehicle body upper part are thereby arranged laterally to the rear of the side doors while the displaceable section is adapted to be placed sealingly against the windshield frame when pushed forwardly into its closed position.

A longitudinal bearer constructed as hollow profile of a motor vehicle frame, which is equipped with introduction places for introducing chassis forces into the frame and into the longitudinal bearer and with a longitudinal deformable bearer section arranged outside of the introduction places and dissipating impact energy; the longitudinal bearer section which by reason of different wall thicknesses has a resistance to buckling that increases in the direction toward the vehicle center, is transversely subdivided over its length at least into two bearer pieces connected with each other by circumferential seams; the wall thickness of a respective bearer piece becomes greater and/or the wall quality thereof becomes better in the direction toward the vehicle center from bearer piece to bearer piece than the wall thickness and/or the wall quality of the bearer piece disposed in front thereof.

Longitudinal bearer and method of constructing same

A longitudinal bearer of a motor vehicle frame, constructed as hollow profile which is provided with places for the introduction of chassis forces into the frame and into the longitudinal bearer and which includes a longitudinal bearer section arranged outside of the introduction places and dissipating deformable impact energy; this longitudinal bearer section, by reason of a differing wall thickness progress, has a resistance to buckling that increases in the direction toward the vehicle center; to that end at least the longitudinal bearer section located outside of the force introduction places is longitudinally subdivided over its length at least into two bearer parts consisting of sheet-metal profile members which are connected with each other along longitudinal seams, whereby the sheet-metal members have different wall thickness while the longitudinal seams extend obliquely to the longitudinal axis of the longitudinal bearer section such that the sheet-metal bearer member with greater wall thickness has a greater share in the circumference of the longitudinal bearer section in areas thereof located nearer the vehicle center than in areas thereof located nearer the end of the vehicle.

A body for motor vehicles, especially for passenger motor vehicles, with bumpers arranged in the front and/or rear area and with body cover panel parts adjoining the same, in which the body cover panel parts above the bumper are devoid of any connection with the bumper while the body cover panel part underneath the bumper forms a separate structural part independent of the upper body cover panel parts.

A door for vehicles which includes an outer door panel and an inner door panel and is equipped with a lowerable window; the inner door panel thereby extends through the plane formed by the lowered window in such a manner that above the area where it passes through this plane, the inner door panel extends on the side of this plane facing the interior space of the vehicle and below this area, it extends on the side of this plane facing the outer door panel; within the area where it passes through the plane of the lowered window, the inner door panel is provided with an aperture for the passage of the lowerable windowpane.
