The invention relates to a cooler for cooling clinker with a device for removal of a sample of the clinker, wherein the cooler has a first cooler section, a second cooler section and a crusher disposed between them, and the device for removal of a sample of the clinker is disposed in a region between the first and the second cooler section.

Cooler for cooling clinker

The invention relates to a cooler and to a method for cooling hot bulk material. The hot bulk material is fed on a stationary aerating base through which cooling gas can flow and is transported by means of reciprocating conveyor elements disposed above the aerating base. In the cooler and cooling method, at least two groups of conveyor elements are used which are actuated jointly in the transport direction and separately from one another against the transport direction.

Cooler and a method for cooling hot bulk material

A method of forming a grate plate for installation as part of a grate assembly in which free flowing abrasive material is supported for movement along a path while treatment gas flows upwardly through such material. The grate plate includes a relatively thin carrier plate modified to present a highly wear resistant upper surface, the carrier plate having slots formed therein through which treatment gas flows for passage through the material. The method is one which is economical even though the carrier plate itself is formed from relatively expensive material.

Method of making a grate plate

A grate plate construction for installation as part of a grate assembly in which free flowing material is supported for movement along a path while treatment gas flows upwardly through such material. The construction has a relatively thin carrier plate having a highly wear resistant upper surface mounted in a supporting frame having ribs and webs which form with the carrier plate channels through which treatment gas flows for passage through the material via slots formed in the carrier plate by a high-energy process. The construction is economical even though the carrier plate itself is formed from relatively expensive material.

Grate plate construction

A double layer cooler for particulate material has a conveyor to which separate streams of such material are delivered at spaced intervals to form lower and upper layers of material on the conveyor. As the layers move toward the discharge end of the conveyor a coolant passes upwardly through the layers. At the discharge end of the conveyor the material of the lower layer is discharged, whereas the material of the upper layer passes over a stationary quantity of material to a crusher in which the upper layer material is crushed. From the crusher material is returned to that stream which forms the lower layer on the conveyor. The lower layer of material thus is precooled and comminuted.

Double layer cooler

Bulk material cooling comprises includes a conveyor having a support surface for transporting bulk material from the conveyor inlet to its outlet. A first material supply chute is provided at the inlet for depositing a quantity of relatively cool material on the conveyor. A baffle is located downstream of the supply chute for leveling the material on the conveyor and forming a uniform thickness layer of such material. A second material supply chute is arranged downstream of the baffle for depositing a layer of relatively hot material atop the first layer. The first layer of material protects the conveyor from the heat of the second layer. Cooling air is passed upwardly through the first and second layer to cool the material.

The cooling apparatus which is preferably constructed in the form of a grate cooler contains in its material inlet portion a material transfer arrangement with at least two rows lying behind one another of transversely extending air boxes which can be supplied with air and have upper surfaces with air holes. The clear opening width of these air holes (area for the air to pass through) is adjustable, so that all air boxes can be supplied independently of one another with adjustable quantities of air. In this way the streams of cooling air can be adapted to differing local ranges of grain sizes of the clinker on the material transfer arrangement.
