For automated driving, a driving system can be operated at least in a first automated driving mode with automated longitudinal and/or transverse guidance. A display device includes a driving mode display with a lighting unit. The driving mode display corresponds to a steering wheel display with a light strip structure for the steering wheel rim that can be lit up. A control device coupled to the display is also provided, for controlling the display. The control device is designed to control the driving mode display such that, upon activation of the first automated driving mode, the lighting unit lights up in a first lighting state with a specific luminous intensity, so as to indicate the activation of the first automated driving mode to the driver. The driving mode display is controlled such that, following the activation of the first automated driving mode, with the first driving mode still active, the lighting unit is operated in a dimmed lighting state as compared to the first lighting state, with a reduced luminous intensity in relation to the luminous intensity of the first lighting state.

A driving system for automated driving includes at least automated lateral guidance for a motor vehicle. The system is configured to determine whether one or more indications of a current or imminent manual steering intervention are present, which do not take place inadvertently and are intentional by a driver. Starting from a driving state with activated automated lateral guidance, the driving system deactivates the automated lateral guidance in response to the manual steering intervention. To deactivate the lateral guidance, a necessary steering torque operating counter to the activated lateral guidance is applied by the driver via the steering wheel within the scope of the manual steering intervention. When the at least one indication of the steering intervention intended by the driver is found to be present, the steering torque necessary to deactivate the lateral guidance is lower than when the indication of an intended steering intervention is not present.

A driving system is provided with a plurality of different driving functions for an automated drive with different degrees of automation for a motor vehicle. At least the driving function with the highest degree of automation is not constantly available. The driving system has a user interface for interacting with the driver. The user interface has an input component which is common to the plurality of driving functions for a signaling, by the driver, of a driver-side request for an automated drive to the driving system. The driving system is designed to determine an operating action via the input component for an automated drive. After the operating action is determined, the available driving function of the plurality of driving functions which has the degree of automation with the highest potential is determined. Provided the driving function is determined which has the degree of automation with the highest potential among the available driving functions, the driving function can be activated.

A driving system for a motor vehicle includes a first driving function for automated driving with automated longitudinal and transverse guidance and a second driving function for automated driving with at least automated longitudinal guidance or with at least automated transverse guidance. The first driving function is available for activation in a first admissibility range defined by a lower and/or upper limit for a driving parameter. The driver uses a first input component to prescribe a driver nominal value preset for the driving parameter that is in the first admissibility range. A driving system for a motor vehicle includes a first driving function for automated driving with automated longitudinal and transverse guidance and a second driving function for automated driving with at least automated longitudinal guidance, or with at least automated transverse guidance. The second driving function has a lower degree of automation than the first driving function. The first driving function is available in a tolerance range. Starting from a driving state with an active second driving function and a value of the driving parameter outside the tolerance range, the driving system changes, when the second driving function is active, the value of the driving parameter in the direction of the tolerance range via automated longitudinal guidance or automated transverse guidance. The driving system then determines that the driving parameter satisfies a criterion with respect to the tolerance range.

A driving system for an automated drive for a motor vehicle has an indicator for marking regions on the steering wheel, in particular on the steering wheel rim. The indicator is preferably an optical steering wheel display which is integrated into the steering wheel rim for example. During an automated drive, the driving system is designed to ascertain that the vehicle has approached an end of the automated drive lying ahead in such a manner that a first approach condition has been satisfied. If the system has ascertained that the vehicle has approached the end of the automated drive in such a manner that the approach condition has been satisfied, the indicator for marking regions on the steering wheel are actuated in response thereto such that a left and a right marking region on the steering wheel are marked. The driver is thus prompted to position their hands on the marked regions of the steering wheel in order to take over the task of driving.

A driving system for an automated drive for a motor vehicle includes a steering wheel display with a lighting strip structure. The lighting strip structure of the steering wheel display is luminous in a defined lighting color for a duration which can be modified according to the actuation. The driving system is designed to control the steering wheel display such that the lighting strip structure is luminous in the lighting color over a starting length during the automated drive. Upon approaching an end of the automated drive lying ahead, the driving system determines that the vehicle has approached an end point of the automated drive lying ahead in such a manner that a specified approach condition has been satisfied. In response thereto, the steering wheel display is actuated such that the lighting strip structure is luminous in the lighting color with a successively decreasing length starting from the starting length as the distance to the end point of the automated drive decreases successively in order to prepare the driver to completely or at least partly take over control of the vehicle again.

A method is provided for aligning at least one rear view mirror and/or another optical component of a motor vehicle. The current eye position of the driver is determined by an interior sensor system upon actuation of a control element. The at least one rear view mirror is automatically aligned as a function of the determined current eye position of the driver.
