A fluid heater having a fluid chamber with a base wall and an upright sidewall is positioned above a feed chamber having an upper wall. A plurality of identical tubular passage heaters, each having an upper outlet end connected to the fluid chamber base wall and an inlet end connected to the upper wall of the feed chamber, are disposed in at least one lateral protective niche recessed with respect to the fluid chamber upright wall. Return ducts located inwardly of the passage heaters connect the base wall of the fluid chambers to the upper wall of the feed chamber. Thermostatically controlled electric heating elements helically disposed on the passage heaters produce a thermosphonic circulation of fluid from the feed chamber through the passage heaters to the fluid chamber and back to the feed chamber through the return ducts. The heating capacity of the fluid heater can be varied within wide limits by energizing different numbers of passage heaters. The passage heaters are removable to allow thorough cleaning of the fluid heater, which may be used as a deep fryer, water heater, or the like.

A heating unit (1) for a medium reservoir (2) provided e.g. as a fryer has a sheet metal, U-shaped support (3) with a plurality of continuous flow heater tubes (4) fixed rigidly between its legs provided as flange plates (5, 6) and is in this way constructed as a closed, preassembled unit, which can be subsequently fixed as an entity to the walls (11, 12) of a container in such a way that they on the one hand project freely into the container and on the other hand their electrically conducting parts are accessible from the outside. Directly above the outlets (29) of the tubes of the said heating unit (1) distributed in grid-like manner can be provided a separately heated sensor system (31) with several temperature sensors.

In the case of a heating device (1a) particularly suitable as a continuous flow heater, on an outer surface (4a) of a wall (3a), a tubular heater (6a) and a heat conducting element (10a) are so closely arranged in juxtaposed portions (14a) that the heat conducting element (10a) with a flat side (12a) and the heating element (6a) with a contact surface (16a) are uninterruptedly connected to said surface (4a) by means of very thin layers of a solder-like fixing material (11a). The longitudinal edge faces (21) of the strip-like heat conducting element (10a) are substantially connected to adjacent portions (14a) of the heating element (6a) and by means of solder-like fixing material are connected uninterruptedly to said heating element (6a). The heat conducting element (10a) flanking on either side the portion (14a) of the heating element (6a) with the fixing material (11a), together with the latter and the wall (3a) brings about a substantial homogenization of the distribution of the thermal energy emanating from the heating element portions (14a) on the facing surface (5a) of the wall (3a) used for heating a medium.

A cleaning machine, such as a washing machine, is provided in the bottom region of its wet chamber with an outlet and an intake connected thereto immediately above a feed pump, adjacent to which a heating section with an electric heating element located outside the wet region is provided, in such a way that a circulating duct is formed which leads through the wet chamber, the outlet and back to the inlet to the inlet side of the feed pump, in which the washing solution is carried in circuit form under thermosiphonic effect, so that the washing solution is heated and portions of the cleaning agent added to the washing solution and which tend to sink are dissolved.

An end piece (1) for a tubular heater (2) has an insulator (10) traversed from the end portion (8) by its connecting member (6) in a passage (16) and substantially completely closing the associated end portion (7) of tube casing (3) and on whose end face (19) remote from the tubular heater (2) is provided a separate metal connecting piece (20) welded to the associated end face of connecting member (6) by a welding head (33). Connecting piece (20) forms one or more freely projecting elements (25) for direct connection to electrical leads. Thus, end piece (1) is positively secured with respect to the tubular heater (2) and is suitable for an easy electrical connection, which can be released at any time.

A continuous flow electric heater for heating liquid contained in a liquid container has a plurality of parallel tubular heating ducts (7b) each bounded by a tubular wall (ib) having upper and lower ends connected respectively to a lower inflow chamber (19b) and an upper outflow chamber (31). The inflow chamber (19b) forms a collector for solids which many separate from the liquid being heated and is defined by a pot-shaped body having a large area solids removal opening closed by a removable cover (25b) and providing access to the interior of the inflow chamber (19b) over the entire width thereof, thereby allowing full access to the interior of the ducts (7b). A tubular heating resistor (17b) is helically wound around each tubular wall portion (8b) to heat the liquid flowing therethrough. A common reception tube (27b) tangentially engaging each tubular wall (8b) between two adjacent turns of the heating resistor thereon removably receives the temperature sensor of a thermal cutout protector. The temperature sensor of a temperature regulator is removably received in the reception tube (35) located in the upper portion of the inflow chamber (19b).

Electric continuous flow heater for liquid containers

A temperature regulating device with a hydraulic regulator for medium heating has a sensor tube in a closely surrounding protective jacket, which is connected directly in good heat conducting manner with a separate sensor heating element in the form of a tubular heater. This sensor heating element is located with the sensor tube in the medium to be heated, which is to be heated by a separate heating device located outside the medium. Through the simultaneous operation of this heating device and the sensor heating element, there is a significant reduction in the operating differential of the switching or control member.

Temperature regulating device, particularly for liquids or gases

The main container of a deep fat fryer has electrical tubular heaters outside the frying fat area and integrated in thermally conductive manner into the walls of a flow circulating shaft and which heat the frying fat in the case of upwardly directed flows through flow channels and consequently keep it in continuous flow circuit by means of a rising flow channel. For temperature regulation purposes is provided a fat temperature sensor which directly taps the fat temperature and also a temperature sensor in the form of a running dry protection means, which taps the temperature directly on the tubular heaters or the associated wall.

A hydraulic expansion temperature sensor is provided with such a large surface, by a spiral, meander-like or similar coiling of its sensing tube, that it has an extremely fast reaction time. The sensing tube forms a structural unit with a flat support, which on the one hand shields the sensing tube and on the other tightly seals the opening necessary for fitting the temperature sensor in a container wall.

An electric hotplate (11) has a metal plate-like or inverted dish-shaped circular hotplate member (12) against whose bottom are pressed by spring elements (25) thin flexible tubular heaters (31), while interposing a multilayer insulation (28). A support disk (26) is placed between insulation (28) and spring elements (25). According to a variant a reinforcement is provided, which may also be placed between the insulation and the tubular heaters. The electric hotplate has a low heat storing capacity and a very flat upper cooking surface (32), even under operating conditions.
