A spark plug is described as including an insulator which is situated in a spark plug housing and which has a longitudinal axis and an opening along the longitudinal axis. Furthermore, a center electrode is situated in the opening of the insulator. Furthermore, at least one ground electrode is provided at the spark plug housing. The insulator has a first insulator section and a second insulator section, the first insulator section extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis over a first insulator section length having a first inner diameter. The second insulator section extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis over a second insulator section length having a second inner diameter. Here, the first inner diameter is smaller than the second inner diameter, the first insulator section merging directly into the second insulator section. The center electrode has a center electrode section which extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis over a center electrode section length having a center electrode outer diameter at least over the entire insulator section length of the first insulator section and of the second insulator section.

Spark plug having a center electrode with improved thermal properties

A spark plug includes a housing, an insulator inside the housing, a center electrode inside the insulator, and a connecting pin inside the insulator. At least one fillet is formed at a change of cross section at the housing, at the insulator, at the center electrode, and/or at the connecting pin. The fillet, viewed in cross section, includes a first leg and a second leg at an angle to the first leg. The length of the first leg is greater than the length of the second leg.

A spark plug includes: a center electrode having at least one first spark surface and extending along a longitudinal axis of the spark plug; and a ground electrode having at least one second spark surface, the first spark surface being situated diametrically opposed to the second spark surface, so that an ignition spark may be generated between the first and second spark surfaces, the center electrode being rotatable coaxially to the longitudinal axis with respect to the ground electrode, and the first and second spark surfaces being inclined in such a way that rotating the center electrode with respect to the ground electrode makes it possible to set a distance between the first and second spark surfaces.

A spark plug for an internal combustion engine, including an electrical connecting arrangement on a connection-side end, an end on the combustion-chamber side pointing toward a combustion chamber, an insulator and a housing having a thread for attaching the spark plug to an engine component, a first sealing area and a second sealing area being provided between the insulator and the housing, the first sealing area being situated closer to the connection-side end and the second sealing area being situated closer to the end on the combustion-chamber side, a tool engagement area for transmitting a torque to the spark plug for fitting or removing the spark plug being situated in an area of the spark plug which lies between the connection-side end and the first sealing area.

A spark plug for an internal combustion engine comprising: a cylindrical metal tube; a rod-shaped central electrode within the cylindrical metal tube; a tubular insulator within which the rod-shaped central electrode is located, wherein the tubular insulator is arranged substantially centrally in and substantially coaxially with the cylindrical metal tube; and at least two ground electrodes affixed to the cylindrical metal tube, wherein the at least two ground electrodes are each bent toward the metal electrode, wherein each ground electrode together with the central electrode forms a different member of a set of spark paths comprising: (i) an air sliding spark path, (ii) and air-air sliding spark path and (iii) an air spark path.

Spark plug for an internal combustion engine

A spark plug for internal combustion engines ensures the formation of two spark paths. These two spark paths are a pure air spark which jumps over from electrode to electrode, and a creepage spark which emerges from the central electrode, creeps along the insulator and then jumps over at the point at the smallest distance between the insulator and the earth electrode. The spark plug includes a cylindrical metal tube which forms a housing and in which the central electrode is arranged, surrounded centrally by an insulator. The earth electrodes mounted on the metal tube are partially bent so that an obtuse bending angle of the bent-over part with respect to the part of the earth electrode which extends in the direction of the rotationally symmetrical longitudinal axis is produced.
