A housing having a holding device comprising a base plate with a circular arrangement of radially resilient clamping limbs having radially outward clamping surfaces for engagement in a central opening of at least one disc-shaped information carrier, for example a CD. The base plate also has a circular arrangement of rigid supporting limbs having: radially outward supporting surfaces interposed between the clamping limbs; and radially resilient clamping noses having radially outward clamping surfaces for engagement in the central opening of the disc-shaped information carrier. The clamping noses allowing the clamping force on the information disc to be increased without reducing the immunity to severe impact loads.

A housing for storing disc-shaped information carriers, for example CD's, has a central part (14), two identical lid parts (10, 11), and a support plate (15) which extends from the central part and is situated between the lid parts. In order to increase the available space within the housing, the support plate (15) is flat on both sides and is asymmetrically positioned between the lid parts (10, 11) so as to form two spaces (17, 18) of different sizes between the lid parts and opposite sides of the support plate. Such spaces can accommodate information leaflets of different thickness.

A two-part housing, for holding a disc-shaped information carrier (15), for example a CD, has a bottom section (10), a cover section (11) connected to the bottom section via two corner hinges a (12, 13), and a clamping device (14, 14') for holding the information carrier (15). A simple fracture-proof hinge structure is provided in, that the cover section (11) comprises two hinge arms (18) whose free end portions (19) are bent through 180.degree. towards the cover section (11) and are resilient, the bottom section (10) has corner recesses (22) adapted to the hinge arms (18), and the free end portions (19) of the hinge arms (18), which end portions face one another, form in conjunction with rigid hinge walls (24) the corner hinges (12, 13).

A housing with a retaining device is arranged on a base plate and comprises clamping studs which are arranged in a circle, which are radially resilient, and which have clamping surfaces facing radially outwards for gripping into a central opening of at least one disc-shaped information carrier, for example a CD. To avoid a destruction of the clamping elements in the case of impacts, rigid support studs with support surfaces facing radially outwards are provided between the clamping studs, and the diameter of the support surfaces arranged in a circle is somewhat smaller than the diameter of the central opening of the information carrier.

A housing for storing a stack of at least two information discs such as CDs includes a central retaining device for engaging and securely fastening each of the discs. The retaining device consists of a plurality of clamping studs arranged in a circle, and with respective groups of studs being in respective planes, each such plane being for a respective disc. The studs are resilient in the radial direction and those in a given group engage the central opening of the disc to be stored in the relevant plane.

Housing

A package having a plurality of rectangular component parts pivotably connected to one another about parallel swiveling axes. These parts include at least one disc carrier, having clamping elements for holding a disc to the carrier, as an intermediate part arranged between two covers. Swiveling axes for interconnecting the intermediate parts to each other and to the covers are situated alternately at opposite ends of the parts, so that the package opens into a zig-zag configuration. A cover may have an end portion arranged for positioning a thick textual insert having a spine, to allow text on the spine to be read through the end wall of the package. A single disc and a text insert over 3 mm thick can be stored in a package having principal dimensions the same as the standard individual CD package. For storing a plurality of discs, a disc carrier may have clamping elements on opposite sides of the carrier, preferably formed simultaneously with the carrier as one injection molding.

A container (2) for a disc (4) having a center hole (6) comprises a bottom section (8) having a bottom (10), upright side walls (12), a rear wall (14) and a front wall (16), and a cover (18) which closes the bottom section at the top and which is held in a closed position by means of a cover lock, the upper side of the bottom section carrying an elastic peg arrangement (22) to retain the disc in its center. In its center the front wall of the bottom section has a front wall recess (24) and the cover lock is situated near the front wall recess.

Storage cassette for a disc having a center hole

Cassette has a bottom section a pivotable cover section, and a tray which is constructed to be inserted into the bottom section and to hold a disc at its outer edge by means of at least three retaining elements arranged on the tray. One of the retaining elements is movable, and transport protection is provided by a latching element arranged on the cover section, which latching element latches the resilient retaining element in its normal position when the cover section is in its closed position.

Storage cassette for a disc-shaped information carrier

High storage density information carriers, particularly optically readable video discs and digital records, can only be read error-free by a playback device when the high requirements made of freedom from warping also remain guaranteed over long storage times. A cassette is provided to support and fix an information carrier only within its central portion which is free of information tracks and, by a sufficient spacing of the information carrier in the support-free area between a bottom portion and a cover portion contact with the information carrier in this area is avoided, even given consideration of maximally-admissible warping tolerances of the storage cassette and of the information carrier.

Tray (1) for receiving and retaining a rigid circular information disc (4). Can be inserted into a storage cassette (28) and comprises a recess (3) and retaining means (7, 15, 16) for retaining the information disc (4) in the recess (3). The tray (1), which constitutes an easy-to-remove and easy-to-introduce insert for the storage cassette, is constructed as a drawer-type insert for a playing apparatus. The retaining means (7, 15, 16), which include one resilient retaining means (7), are arranged opposite one another on the edge of the recess (3).
