A thread cutting device for a chain-stitch sewing machine having a cylindrical arm (2) moves a thread catcher (14) towards a thread-catching position in a jerk-free manner utilizing a sliding and pivoting guide. A carrier (19) displaces a knife (15) and a thread clamp (16) into a cutting position for the cutting of threads caught by the thread catcher (14).

An upper feed mechanism positively driven in four directions above the work supporting surface of the machine for concommitantly advancing work along a predetermined feed path. The upper feed mechanism includes an upper feed dog carried on the presser arm of the machine. In the usual manner, the presser arm has a presser foot hinged at one end thereof. The opposite end of the presser arm is slidably pivoted relative the machine frame such that the presser arm, presser foot and upper feed dog mechanism may be conjointly moved sidewise as a modular assemblage thus permitting operating access to the sewing area of the machine.

The present invention relates to a device for monitoring fluid flow through a pressurized lubrication system. The device includes a reciprocally arranged indicator that is responsive to fluid pressures within the lubrication system for exteriorally indicating the lubricant flow as a function of the reciprocal position of the indicator.

A thread trimming mechanism which includes a fixed blade arranged adjacent the stitch forming area of the sewing machine and a resiliently biased movable blade adapted to cooperate in a scissor-like action with the fixed blade. The movable blade is mounted such that varying degrees of contact pressure may occur between the blades during the thread trimming cycle of the mechanism.

A shroud and a baffle cooperate to direct the air drawn in by the fan downward and over the bottom cover of the sewing machine which is provided with heat dissipating fins.
