A method for detecting critical transverse movements. The method includes the following steps: emitting a CW radar signal and generating radar data based on the received reflected CW radar signal with the aid of a radar device; ascertaining collision-relevant spectral ranges of the radar data as a function of an ego velocity of the radar device; ascertaining a time dependency of a relative velocity and of an object angle of an object by evaluating the radar data in the ascertained spectral ranges; and detecting a critical transverse movement of the object using the time dependency of the relative velocity and of the object angle of the object.

Method and device for detecting critical transverse movements using CW and FMCW radar modes

A method for signal evaluation in a locating system that includes multiple radar sensors whose locating ranges overlap one another. The method includes evaluating the signal of a first of the radar sensors and identifying distance cells that are not empty, for at least one of these distance cells: selecting a second of the radar sensors and determining a distance range in which the objects situated in the distance cell would have to be situated from the viewpoint of the second radar sensor, and classifying the object configuration in the distance range, based on the signal of the second radar sensor.

A method for detecting misalignment of a radar sensor positioned on a vehicle. A Doppler spectrum for the radiation emitted and received by the radar sensor is ascertained. For at least one frequency bin of the Doppler spectrum, an angle of incidence is determined in at least a subinterval. The determined angle of incidence is compared to the angle of incidence expected for the frequency bin. A misalignment of the radar sensor is detected as a function of the difference of the measured angle of incidence from the expected angle of incidence.

An FMWC radar sensor for motor vehicles, having a high-frequency oscillator, which is developed to generate a frequency-modulated transmit signal that has a periodically repeating series of modulation sequences having different modulation patterns, and having an evaluation device for evaluating the received radar echo according to the FMCW principle, wherein the series of the modulation sequences includes a special class of modulation sequences whose duration is longer than that of any other modulation sequence not belonging to this class and whose frequency swing is smaller than that of any other modulation sequence, and the evaluation device is developed to carry out a measurement of the ego velocity of the vehicle on the basis of a radar echo that is received from non-moving objects during the modulation sequences that belong to the special class.
