In a connection box for direct connection to a charging fluid duct of a charging fluid supply designed for intermixing a charge air and an exhaust gas to form a charging fluid, comprising a housing with a charge air connecting space including at least a connection for a charge air guide arrangement, and at least one mixing channel in communication with the charge air connecting space via a connection for supplying charge air to the mixing channel and the mixing channel including a supply side exhaust gas connection for an exhaust gas recirculation and a charging fluid-side mixing channel connection for the charging fluid duct, the connection is arranged at a first front side of the housing, and the mixing channel extends along a longitudinal side of the housing from the first front side to a second front side of the housing opposite the first front side.

In a charge air supply arrangement of an internal combustion engine with two stage charging in a combination with first and second charge air coolers, a double connection box is provided with a guide structure including a separation wall defining a lower guide area with a lower connection to the first charge air cooler disposed directly below the double connection box and an upper guide area with an upper connection to the second charge air cooler disposed directly on top of the double connection box. Also, in an internal combustion engine with such a charge air cooling arrangement, the charge air cooler arrangement is arranged on top of the engine.

A filter head, designed to hold at least two filter elements. The filter head having a housing, into which feed channels to, and return channels from, the filter elements are integrated. A rotatable switching drum is provided for selectively opening or closing the channels to control the flow of fluid to the filter elements. The filter head has a cover, which closes off the housing, and a spring element, which produces an axial force which presses one of the sealing surfaces of the switching drum against the cover and the other sealing surface of the switching drum against the housing.

In an internal combustion engine with a first and a second exhaust gas turbocharger, which are installed in a common carrier housing, two exhaust gas turbochargers are arranged so that the two charger axes are at an angle to each other which is in the range of 55-100&#xb0; and lie in the same plane. As a result, the two exhaust gas streams can be brought together with low turbulence even though the manifold is short, and a more compact set of external dimensions can be obtained for the internal combustion engine.

An exhaust gas bellows expansion joint for joining a first section and a second section of an exhaust pipe. The exhaust gas bellows expansion joint including a first corrugated pipe for conveying exhaust gas through the joint, a protective sleeve, which is inserted in the first corrugated pipe, a second corrugated pipe, which coaxially surrounds the first corrugated pipe, and an annular space between the first corrugated pipe and the second corrugated pipe for the passage of liquid through the joint.

An exhaust gas duct for a row of a plurality of combustion engine cylinders has an exhaust pipe section extending alongside the cylinders and a cooling housing in which the exhaust pipe section is mounted. The cooling housing has a middle longitudinal section and two end sections, one of which is a cover and the other is a mounting connector duct end ring. The middle section has substantially circular end portions with cooling liquid flow ducts therein and a flange portion for mounting to a cylinder head. The middle section is made of extruded standardized stock of light metal which facilitates the manufacture and assembly of the duct. A compact structural volume is also achieved thereby. The extruded stock material assures a good dimensional accuracy, a high surface quality, and good sealing characteristics.

An exhaust gas duct for a row of cylinders of an internal combustion engine is so constructed that corrosion, especially fretting corrosion, is minimized by mounting the exhaust gas pipe section in a cooling housing so that contact between the pipe section and the cooling housing is limited to the end portions of the exhaust gas pipe section, thereby leaving an uninterrupted gap between the pipe section and the housing all along the pipe section. The end mountings permit an axial movement, and, if desired, also a radial movement of the pipe section relative to the liquid cooled housing for compensating thermal expansions and contractions. The end mountings are easily accessible for inspection and additionally, permit an easy assembly and disassembly of the components.
