A cardboard blank for folding a box has a length and a width, wherein in the length direction five adjacent sections of panels are present, each panel of the first, third and fifth section having a length (H) corresponding to the height of the box to be folded, and each panel of the second and forth section having a length (L) corresponding to the length of the box to be folded, in the width direction (W) three adjacent rows of panels are present, each panel of the second row having a width (W) corresponding to the width of the box to be folded, and each panel of the first and the third row having a width (H) corresponding to the height of the box to be folded, between adjacent panels in the length direction (L) crease lines are provided, between panels of the second, the third and the forth section which are adjacent to each other in the width direction (W), crease lines are provided, adjacent panels of the first section are separated from each other by incisions, in the fifth section only a panel in the second row is present, between the panels of the second and the forth section in the first and the third row, a respective joint panel is provided, each of which being divided in triangular sections by crease lines between diagonally opposing corners of the each joint panel, the outer triangle being cut away.

A device and a method for assembling items for shipment are described, that facilitate positioning the assembled items, e.g., in a pre-folded cardboard box having at least an open top and an open side or on a conveyor transporting the items. The device may include; a bottom panel, two side panels, a first and a second end panel, wherein the bottom panel is substantially orthogonal to the side panels and the end panels, wherein the first end panel is arranged on the device to be movable with respect to the bottom panel, the first end panel being movable in a direction substantially orthogonal to the bottom panel and wherein the second end panel is arranged on the device to be movable towards and away from the first end panel in a direction substantially parallel to the bottom panel.

Prefolded cardboard blank for folding closed packaging boxes of varying height and length, said blank comprising a bottom panel, two side panels, each joined to opposite edges of said bottom panel and a first end panel joined with a first edge to said bottom panel, with a second edge to one of said side panels and with a third edge to the other one of said side panels such that the first end panel and the side panels when erected from the bottom panel form together with the bottom panel a box having an open top and an open side, the first end panel having an end portion intended to form a first top panel, each side panel having an end portion intended to form at least one second top panel and a corner panel, the bottom panel having an end portion intended to form a second end panel and a third top panel, and each side panel having a crease line running at an angle of 45&#xb0; upwards from a corner, where the edges of the respective side panel, the first end panel and the bottom panel meet.
