Method and system for automatically processing blanks for forming packaging boxes. By means of a feeding conveyor blank material is fed in a feeding direction from a storage of blank material to a single blank cutting station comprising a blank forming apparatus for cutting and creasing blank material into a blank. By means of said blank forming apparatus a blank is formed having a rectangular bottom panel and rectangular corner, side and end panels. Cutting and creasing blank material into the blank is performed during feeding of said blank material in feeding direction through the blank forming apparatus.

Method and system for automatically processing blanks for packaging boxes

Method and system for automatically forming packaging boxes and packaging an article therein, preferably simultaneously with the formation of said boxes. At least four folding units fold side and end panels of a blank upwardly. The four folding units comprise a front pair of folding units and a rear pair of folding units positioned upstream at a longitudinal distance from the front pair of folding units seen in conveying direction, and the folding units of the front pair and the folding units of the rear pair are positioned at a respective transverse distance from each other. Said longitudinal distance is adjustable during feeding of the custom sized blank into the supporting station, preferably by starting the displacement of the front pair of folding units towards the sealing station earlier than the displacement of the rear pair of folding units.

Method and system for automatically forming packaging boxes

System () for automatically packaging items varying in size and number for shipment, comprising a unit () for acquiring size information of one or more item(s) to be packaged, an inner packaging material feeding unit () for feeding an inner packaging material, an outer packaging material feeding unit () for feeding an outer packaging material, a first wrapping station () for wrapping said inner packaging material around one or more item(s) to be packaged to create an inner packing surrounding the item(s) in a first direction and a second wrapping station () for wrapping said outer packaging material around said inner packing to create an outer packing surrounding the inner packing in a second direction, said second direction being substantially perpendicular to said first direction, wherein the first and the second wrapping stations are adapted to form said inner packing and said outer packing such that the inner and the outer packing form a combined package enclosing the packaged item(s) from all sides.

System and method for automatically packaging items varying in size and number for shipment

Method and system for automatically forming packaging boxes. At least four folding units each provided with a controllable gripping element support a custom sized blank supporting an article in a supporting station. The at least one of the folding units is configured for folding respective side and/or end panels of the blank upwardly. The at least four folding units comprise a front pair of folding units and a rear pair of folding units positioned at a longitudinal distance from the front pair of folding units, and the folding units of the front pair and the folding units of the rear pair are positioned at a respective transverse distance from each other. Said longitudinal distance and/or said transverse distance are adjustable.

Blank for a box, assembly of a blank and a tape for a box and a box formed from such blank and/or such assembly

A system for packaging items in a custom sized box comprises a blank forming apparatus for forming a custom sized blank and a box folding apparatus for folding a custom sized box from the custom sized blank. The box folding apparatus comprises a rectangular throat frame having an adjustable rectangular throat opening and a suction device with suction nozzles for sucking the bottom panel of the blank. A displacement device is provided for lowering the suction nozzles from a top position in which top surfaces of the suction nozzles lie in a plane supporting the blank towards a bottom position, thereby causing folding of the side and end panels of the blank with respect to the bottom panel as the blank is drawn through the throat opening.

System for packaging items in a custom sized box

An inserting system has an envelope feeding station, an enclosure feeding station, and a folding station having a first and a second folding nip for folding documents. Documents are inserted into envelopes, which are held in an inserting position. Envelopes are transported through an envelope transport path from their feeding station to the inserting position, and enclosures are transported through an enclosure transport path from their feeding station to the inserting position. The enclosure transport path comprises a diverter, a first enclosure transport path part between the enclosure feeding station and the diverter and a second enclosure transport path part between the diverter and the inserting position. The second enclosure transport path part passes through the first and the second folding nip. A third enclosure transport path part is present between the diverter and the inserting position and bypasses the first folding nip and passes through the second folding nip.

Inserting system and a method of inserting enclosures in envelopes using said inserting system

Apparatus for gathering postal items having a postal item feeding path for feeding postal items at a speed of transport and a postal item gripper for gripping and subsequently releasing postal items. The gripper is circulatable in a sense of circulation along a circulation path downstream of the feeding path. Each time prior to gripping of one of the postal items by the gripper, at least the speed of transport of the gripper is temporarily reduced to a reduced speed of transport or the speed of transport of the postal item along the feeding path is temporarily increased to an increased speed of transport. A method for gathering postal items is also described.

Gathering postal items

Inserter with a folding assembly for folding documents, an envelope holder for each time holding an envelope in a stuffing position in or against a surface, a document transport path for transporting documents from the folding assembly, around one of the folding rollers to the stuffing position, and a flap hold-open element on a first side of the document transport path for holding open a flap of an envelope held in the envelope holder. A most downstream guide of the document transport path on the first side of the document transport path is situated opposite one of the folding rollers for guiding documents between that folding roller and that guide, so that documents are driven to the stuffing position by said one of the folding rollers ().

Compact inserter

Inserter provided with an envelope feeder having an envelope supply holder for taking up a stack of envelopes and having a transport roller and a separation element opposite a circumferential portion of the transport roller, for separately dispensing individual envelopes from the envelope supply holder. An envelope transport path extends from the envelope feeder to a stuffing position for transporting envelopes from the envelope feeder to the stuffing position. At least one guide along the envelope transport path downstream of the separation element comprises a flap hold-open element for holding a flap of an envelope held in the stuffing position open, situated opposite a circumferential portion of the transport roller of the envelope feeder.

Inserter for inserting postal items into envelopes, wherein an envelope catcher separates the envelopes and transports the envelopes away from the stack of empty envelopes and the envelopes are subsequently transported further with the initially leading flap end trailing. The envelope catcher is suspended for movement and drivable along a catcher path, of which at least a section extends closely along the envelope to be separated. When the envelope is transported away from the envelope catcher with its flap end trailing the flap is folded open.

Inserter for inserting postal items into envelopes

Inserter with a stuffing assembly for each time inserting a document into an envelope in the stuffing position. In the operating position, a document feeder or the exit for outputting finished mail items is situated at the front side of the housing, and the envelope holder is accessible exclusively from a rear side of the housing. The housing has at least one foot or feet for supporting the housing via the foot or feet with respect to a supporting surface on which the apparatus stands. The foot is or, respectively, feet are arranged for allowing the rotation of the housing between the operating position and a loading position while the housing rests on the supporting surface via the foot or feet, and for keeping the housing supported in said positions.

Desktop inserter

An apparatus for inserting documents () having at least one guide strip () which is reciprocable between a retracted position and a projecting position in which it reaches further into the stuffing position than in the retracted position for guiding into an envelope () in the stuffing position at least one document () coming from the document transport path ().

Apparatus for inserting documents into envelopes

For folding a sheet of paper, a portion of the sheet situated between opposite ends of the sheet is bent to a folding nip between a pair of folding rollers. By rotating the folding rollers in an output rotation sense, whereby sections of the folding rollers in the area of the folding nip transport the bent portion of the sheet into the folding nip, and transporting the bent portion of the sheet through the folding nip, a fold is formed in the bent portion of the sheet. Prior to the rotation of the folding rollers in the output rotation sense, at least a portion of the sheet is supplied between the folding rollers by rotating the folding rollers in an input rotation sense opposite to the output rotation sense. An apparatus for folding is also described.

Method and apparatus for folding sheets of paper

In determining a setting condition of an apparatus for assembling mail items from mail components ( ) it is detected, in a setting phase, in which of a number of feeder stations ( ) of that apparatus mail components ( ) are present. Feeder stations ( ) in which mail components are present are automatically brought into an operating condition, and feeder stations ( ) in which no mail components are present are automatically brought into a non-operating condition. As a result, at the start-up of the apparatus, on the basis of the loading thereof, it is automatically determined which station is to be brought into an operating condition and which are to remain standby. An apparatus specifically arranged for practicing the proposed method is also described.
