An X-ray detector is positioned relative to an X-ray source such that at least a part of a region between the X-ray source and the X-ray detector is an examination region for accommodating an object. The X-ray source and X-ray detector are controlled by a processing unit in order to operate in a first imaging operation mode, a second imaging operation mode, and/or a third imaging operation mode. The detector comprises a first scintillator, a second scintillator, a first sensor array, and a second sensor array. The first scintillator is disposed over the second scintillator such that X-rays emitted from the X-ray source first encounter the first scintillator and then encounter the second scintillator.

Combined imaging detector for x-ray and nuclear imaging

An interventional X-ray system is proposed, the system including a multi X-ray source unit positioned below a patient table. This 'multiblock' may comprise several x-ray sources with focal spot positions distributed along the x-y (table) plane. The x-ray sources are operable in a switching scheme in which certain x-ray sources may be activated in parallel and also sequential switching between such groups is intended. The switching may be carried out so that several images with different projection angles can be acquired in parallel. In other words, an optimal multi-beam X-ray exposure is suggested, wherein fast switching in one dimension and simultaneous exposure in the 2nd dimension is applied.

Driving of an X-ray detector to compensate for cross scatter in an X-ray imaging apparatus

A radiation system (), comprising a patient support platform (). An X-ray radiation source () is positioned beneath the patient support platform and enclosed by fixed radiation shielding. An X-ray radiation detector () is positioned above the patient support platform. A detector X-ray radiation shield () comprising shield extension () is arranged on either side of the patient support platform, which extend from the X-ray radiationdetector to the fixed radiation shielding. The shield extensions are able to be moved relative to the source radiation shield to allow access to a patient on the support platform.

Providing X-ray image data of an object

A radiation detector for combined detection of low-energy radiation quanta and high-energy radiation quanta has a multi-layered structure. A medical imaging device and a method for providing an image representation supporting positioning of an intervention device such as a wire tip () in a region of interest during an intervention is proposed. Therein, the following process steps are to be performed: (S) acquiring a pre-live anatomy image () including a region of interest; (S) acquiring a live anatomy image using a live image acquisition device comprising an adjustable collimator device; (S) identifying a location () of the intervention device () within the live anatomy image; (S) adjusting settings of the collimator device based on the identified location of the intervention device for subsequently acquiring a further live anatomy image representing the region of interest using the live image acquisition device with the collimator device being in the adjusted settings; and providing (S) the image representation by merging information from the live anatomy image into the pre-live anatomy image. Thereby, the intervention device may be continuously tracked and the collimator device may restrict a field of view to a location of the intervention device thereby significantly reducing an applied X-ray dose. Background anatomical information may be introduced into the final image representation using the pre-live anatomy image possibly having a higher image contrast than the live anatomy images.

Contrast agent may be used as agent of balloon expansion. An image of a physical object is produced by receiving a plurality of raw images, dividing the plurality of raw images into a first subset of primary images and a second subset of secondary images according to a predetermined criterion. From the first subset of primary images an intermediate image is determined while from the second subset of secondary images a mask image is determined. Afterwards a registration of the intermediate image and the mask image is performed by using direct registration of predetermined features present in the intermediate image and the mask image. A fused image of the physical object is generated out of the mask image and the intermediate image.

The invention relates to the field of digital subtraction angiography. An image processing method is applied to a digitized mask () and to a sequence of digitized opacified images (). A logarithmic function () is applied to the values of the pixels of the digitized mask and to the values of the pixels of the sequence of digitized opacified images, and then a subtraction () is made of the logarithmic value of each pixel of a digitized opacified image from the logarithmic value of the corresponding pixel in the digitized mask. In order to improve the quality of the images processed, a processing step () able to decrease certain pixel values of the digitized mask and of the digitized opacified images is applied before applying the logarithmic function.
