An H-bridge circuit capable of performing switching using one or more intermediate voltage phases each held for a period of time in the midst of the switching operation. This reduces power dissipation associated with the switching operation, while only using one set of high/low voltage supplies. The H-bridge may be used to provide current via an inductor to a load. A class AB amplifier may be placed in parallel with the H-bridge to provide supplemental correcting current to the load to allow the combination to act as an efficient and accurate signal driver. Furthermore, the use of intermediate voltages in the H bridge allows for increased slew rates for any given operation frequency, and allows for the driving of a given signal on the load using a lower operational frequency.

H-bridge utilizing intermediate switching phase(s)

A hybrid circuit that couples a broadband modem to a POTS or ISDN telecommunication line (TL) and includes a transformer bridge circuit (TBC) that includes a bridge circuit (BC). The bridge circuit includes four legs formed by impedance matching networks and parts of the transformer, and a differential drive amplifier (DRV) that performs impedance synthesis. A secondary winding (TS) of the transformer is magnetically coupled to the first and the second primary windings and is electrically coupled to the telecommunication line. First and second impedance dividers (Zhin, Zhoutand Zhin, Zhout) are connected to the various nodes to provide outputs to a receive amplifier (RCV). The impedance matching networks (Zm; Zm) include various passive and reactive components that together provide an impedance value selected based upon the line impedance reflected into the primary windings (TP; TP) of the transformer. To perform the impedance synthesis, the drive amplifier (DRV) is a differential drive amplifier having feedback inputs (FB&#x2212;, FB+) to which the third (C) and fourth (D) nodes are connected.

Hybrid circuit for a broadband modem

A line driver having a non-linear amplifier that is arranged to provide a first output signal, which is an amplified input signal. The line driver also includes an analog linear amplifier providing a second output signal based on the difference between the input signal and the first output signal, placed in parallel with the non-linear amplifier. The line driver also includes a device to combine the first output signal and the second output signal to provide a total output signal to an output line.

xDSL class C-AB driver

A hybrid circuit that couples a broadband modem to a POTS or ISDN telecommunication line (TL) and comprises a transformer bridge circuit (TBC) that includes a bridge circuit (BC). The bridge circuit is constituted by four legs of which a first (A) and a second (B) nodes, that do not belong to a same leg, are connected to the two outputs of a differential drive amplifier (DRV) that performs impedance synthesis. A first leg is made of a first impedance matching network (Zm ) connected between the second node (B) and a third node (C). A second leg is made of a first primary winding (TP ) of a transformer and is connected between the third (C) and the first (A) nodes. A third leg is made of a second impedance matching network (Zm ) connected between the first node (A) and a fourth node (D). A forth leg is made of a second primary winding (TP ) of the transformer and is connected between the fourth (D) and second (B) nodes. A secondary winding (TS) of the transformer is magnetically coupled to the first and the second primary windings and is electrically coupled to the telecommunication line. A first impedance divider (Zhin , Zhout ) is connected between the third (C) and first (A) nodes and has a first central node (E), whilst a second impedance divider (Zhin , Zhout ) is connected between the fourth (D) and second (B) nodes and has a second central node (F). A receive amplifier (RCV) has inputs connected to the first (E) and second (F) central nodes. The impedance matching networks (Zm ; Zm ) include various passive and reactive components that provides together an impedance value selected based upon the line impedance reflected into the primary windings (TP ; TP ) of the transformer. To perform the impedance synthesis, the drive amplifier (DRV) is a differential drive amplifier having feedback inputs (FB&minus;, FB&plus;) to which the third (C) and fourth (D) nodes are connected.

xDSL feedback class C-AB driver

An interface arrangement including the cascade connection of a differential pre-amplifier (HPA,, HPA,) and a comparator (DA), and generally known as fast Low Voltage Differential Signal &lsqb;LVDS&rsqb; circuit for interfacing electronic chips. The current standards for such a LVDS circuit specify a minimum switching threshold voltage for the small differential input signal, while the common mode input signal varies over a very large range, both at a very high frequency. This is achieved owing to the fact that the differential pre-amplifier comprises a first (HPA,) and a second (HPA,) half pre-amplifier, each receiving the arrangement inputs (INN, INP) in an opposite way. Each half pre-amplifier (HPA,/HPA,) having first input inverter means (NN,, PN,) coupling an input (INN/INP) to an output (OUT,/OUT,) thereof, and second input inverter means (NP,, PM,, PM,; PP,, NM,, NM,) coupling the other input (INP/INN) to the output via current mirror means (PM,, PM,; NM,, NM,). The output current of the second input inverter means is thereby inverted with respect to the output current of the first input inverter means. To obtain a controlled gain, the half pre-amplifier further includes a short-circuited inverter.
