A multi-part fastening device which pivotally connects a door to a dipper and the dipper to a power shovel handle about the same axis, wherein one part of the device can be removed to permit the dipper to be removed from the handle, while the other part of the device remains in place to retain the door on the dipper.

Dipper door retainer

A consumable assembly consituting the source of metal for welding by the electroslag process, comprising a stainless steel guide sleeve, a tube of copper inside the guide sleeve, and a weld wire inside the copper tube.

Consumable guide tube assembly

Sections of cast manganese steel, or manganese steel to be interfaced to another steel, are joined by electroslag welding. Metallurgical limitations, operating parameters and physical attributes of the guide tube are imposed to retard embrittlement of the base metal and weld metal as well, to prevent tearing, to assure satisfactory ductility, and to preserve the integrity of the austenitic manganese steel in the weld metal.
