Methods and systems provide network capacity enhancement. In one embodiment, the method includes identifying delay requirements for an extended reality (XR) service application. The method further includes predicting, in the PDCP layer, one or more of jitter or latency for a data packet and dropping the data packet if the predicted jitter and/or latency is higher than the delay requirements identified for the XR service application. The method further includes predicting, in the MAC layer, jitter or the latency for the data packet and dropping the data packet if the predicted jitter or the latency in the MAC layer higher than the delay requirements identified for the XR service application and preparing the data packet for transmission through a network if the one or more of the jitter or latency in the MAC layer for the data packet is less than the delay requirements identified for the XR service application.

System and method for wireless network capacity enhancements for XR jitter sensitivity applications

In a wireless communication system, Distributed Units (DUs) wirelessly receive test data from wireless access points and transfer the test data to a Central Unit (CU). The CU receives the test data from the DUs and estimates data throughputs for combinations of the DUs and the wireless access points based on the test data. The CU selects some of the combinations of the DUs and the wireless access points based on the estimated data throughputs. The CU exchanges user data with the user communication devices and exchanges the user data with the DUs in the selected combinations of the DUs and the wireless access points. The DUs in the selected combinations of the DUs and the wireless access points exchange the user data with the CU and wirelessly exchange the user data with the wireless access points in the selected combinations of the DUs and the wireless access points.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for providing fixed wireless access to user devices located within structures. A structure, such as a multi-unit structure, may comprise one or more consolidated access points configured to wirelessly communicate with both a radio access network and one or more fixed wireless access devices that are coupled to an exterior window or wall of the structure. Fixed wireless access devices may have a portion mounted on the exterior of an exterior window or wall and comprise components to wirelessly communicate with the consolidated access point or radio access network. The fixed wireless access device may also have an interior portion mounted on the interior that routes signals to user devices within the structure and wirelessly powers the exterior portion.

A wireless User Equipment (UE) hosts a microservice. In the wireless UE, a user interface presents user options to a user and receives user instructions from the user. Communication circuitry wirelessly transfers the user instructions to a microservice control system, and in response, wirelessly receives microservice instructions and a microservice application from the microservice control system. User circuitry in the wireless UE executes the microservice application in an operating system container per the microservice instructions and responsively generates microservice data for a microservice data system. The communication circuitry wirelessly transfers the microservice data to the microservice data system. This hosted microservices platform supports a variety of applications beyond smartphone owner usage. To that end, the smartphone owner may get financially compensated for those extra use cases according to a variety of factors. The owner will be in full control of selecting which functionality will run on his smartphone/UE.

In a wireless communication network, a user Centralized Unit (CU) exchanges test data with user Distributed Units (DUs). The user DUs wirelessly exchange the test data with access DUs in wireless Access Points (APs). The access DUs exchange the test data with access CUs in the wireless APs. The user CU estimates data throughputs based on the test data for combinations of the user DUs, the access DUs, and the access CUs. The user CU selects a combination based on the estimated data throughputs. The user CU exchanges user data with the user communication devices and exchanges the user data with the user DUs in the selected combination. The user DUs in the selected combination wirelessly exchange the user data with the access DUs in the selected combination. The access DUs in the selected combination exchange the user data with the access CUs in the selected combination.

In a wireless communication network, a Centralized Unit (CU) and Distributed Units (DUs) wirelessly communicate with Access Points (APs). The DUs wirelessly receive test signals from the APs and generate radio data. The CU receives the radio data from the DUs. The CU determines data throughputs for combinations of the DUs and the APs based on the radio data. The CU configured selects one of the combinations of the DUs and the APs based on the data throughputs. The CU exchanges user data with the DUs in the selected combination. The DUs in the selected combination wirelessly exchange the user data with the wireless network APs in the selected combination.

Disclosed are structures and processes to help enable a wireless communication device (WCD) to support operation in a dual-connectivity scenario, such as where the WCD operates concurrently with 4G and 5G wireless connections over frequency channels in a common frequency band. Downlink low-noise-amplification could be controlled with a split dual-stage arrangement and control communication between modems in the WCD. And uplink maximum-power reduction could be controlled based on an evaluation of the frequency channels used by the respective connections, given knowledge of frequency resources allocated for one of those connections, and with a presumed worst-case-scenario frequency-resource allocation on the other connection.

Controlling RF communication in a dual-connectivity scenario

When a UE is going to engage concurrently in a first transmission on a first channel and a second transmission on a second channel, the UE will apply a level of power-backoff for the first transmission, with the level of power-backoff being dynamically established (i) based on a prediction of what PSD-limited frequency in the nearest IM3 product will have the highest PSD and (ii) based on a mapping between that predicted worst-case frequency to an associated power-backoff value. For instance, considering the IM3 product nearest in frequency to the first transmission, a determination could be made as to what portion of the IM3 product is subject to a PSD limit. And a prediction could be made as to what frequency within that frequency range will have the highest PSD. That predicted worst-case frequency could then be mapped to an associated power-backoff value, and the UE could be configured accordingly.

Systems and methods are described for allocating resource blocks based on uplink transmission parameters, resulting in beneficial coverage and capacity of a wireless system. A headroom report that comprises a transmission power headroom for a wireless device may be received. Potential resource block allocations for the wireless device may be generated based on channel information for a plurality of frequency bands, the generated potential resource block allocations comprising a frequency band and a time slot. A potential resource block allocation may be selected from among the potential resource block allocations based on a maximum power reduction for the allocation and the reported transmission power headroom for the wireless device. The selected resource blocks may then be allocated for the wireless device.
