A contactlessly or tactilely measuring measuring system having a multipurpose interface socket for accommodating and for connecting a contactlessly or tactilely measuring measuring device having a light transmitter and a light receiver, for determining the position of a tool or for determining the longest cutting edge of a rotating tool in a machine tool. The multipurpose interface socket has the following features: at least one mechanical stop, corresponding to a counterstop on the measuring device, for accommodating and repeatably placing the measuring device on the multipurpose interface socket; and at least one second fluid transfer point on the multipurpose interface socket, which corresponds to a first fluid transfer point on the measuring device.

A contactlessly or tactilely measuring measuring system having a multipurpose interface socket for accommodating and for connecting a contactlessly or tactilely measuring measuring device having a light transmitter and a light receiver, for determining the position of a tool or for determining the longest cutting edge of a rotating tool in a machine tool. The multipurpose interface socket has the following features: at least one mechanical stop, corresponding to a counterstop on the measuring device, for accommodating and repeatably placing the measuring device on the multipurpose interface socket; at least one second signal transfer point on the multipurpose interface socket, which corresponds to a first signal transfer point on the measuring device; and at least one second fluid transfer point on the multipurpose interface socket, which corresponds to a first fluid transfer point on the measuring device.

Roughness measuring instrument for use in a machine tool and method for measuring roughness in a machine tool

To determine the position of rotationally drivable tools in machine tools, the moment of separation of the tool to be measured and a measuring beam, for example a laser beam of a light barrier, is used. The tool to be measured is first positioned in such a manner that the measuring beam is interrupted, and is then moved to a measuring position in which the moment of separation of the tool and the measuring beam occurs, and the measuring beam is no longer interrupted by the tool during at least one complete revolution. The moment of separation is used to determine the position of the tool.

Method and device for determining the position of rotationally drivable tools

The testing of a cutting-edge geometry of a tool takes place during time intervals that comprise time instants at which it is to be expected that a region, to be tested, of the tool enters a measuring beam. At time instants at which the tool does not enter the measuring beam, no measurements are performed, which increases the reliability of the test and avoids spurious measurements. For this purpose, a measuring system is used that preferably comprises programmable units in order to use the invention flexibly for various machine tools and tools without changing the construction of the measuring system.
