A detector for a dark-field and/or phase-contrast interferometric imaging system comprises pixels, first detector arrays, second detector arrays, and a processor. For each pixel, each of the first and second detector arrays is configured to detect a cumulative charge associated with fingers of the respective detector array. For each pixel, the processor is configured to assign an X-ray interaction event to either the first detector array or the second detector array based on the detector array that has the highest cumulative charge.

Detector for a dark-field, phase-contrast and attenuation interferometric imaging system

The invention relates to a scintillator array for a radiation imaging detector. A method for manufacturing the scintillator array, a radiation imaging detector, and a medical imaging system are also provided. The scintillator array has a radiation receiving face and an opposing scintillation light output face. The scintillator array includes a plurality of scintillator elements and a separator material that is disposed between the scintillator elements. The separator material consists of separator particles that have a predetermined size and with this the separator material provides an optical separation of the scintillator elements by providing a physical spacing between the scintillator elements, the width of which spacing is defined by the separator particle size.

Scintillator array with high detective quantum efficiency

The invention relates to a gamma radiation detector that provides compensation for the parallax effect. The gamma radiation detector includes a plurality of scintillator elements, a planar optical detector array, and a pinhole collimator that includes a pinhole aperture. Each scintillator element has a gamma radiation receiving face and an opposing scintillation light output face. The gamma radiation receiving face of each scintillator element faces the pinhole aperture for generating scintillation light in response to gamma radiation received from the pinhole aperture. The scintillator elements are arranged in groups. Each group has a group axis that is aligned with the pinhole aperture and is perpendicular to the radiation receiving face of each scintillator in that group. The scintillation light output faces of each of the scintillator elements are in optical communication with the planar optical detector array.

The analyzing grid comprises a number of X-ray converting gratings. The X-ray converting gratings are configured to convert incident X-ray radiation into light or charge. The number of X-ray converting gratings comprises at least a first X-ray converting grating and a second X-ray converting grating. Further, the X-ray converting gratings each comprise an array of grating bars, wherein the grating bars within each X-ray converting grating are arranged mutually displaced from each other in a direction perpendicular to the incident X-ray radiation by a specific displacement pitch. Further, the grating bars of the first X-ray converting grating are arranged mutually displaced from the grating bars of the second X-ray converting grating in the direction perpendicular to the incident X-ray radiation by the displacement pitch divided by the number of X-ray converting gratings.

Analyzing grid for phase contrast imaging and/or dark-field imaging

In the present invention a direct X-ray conversion layer comprises a material having a perovskite crystal structure. This is preferable since this enables constructing an X-ray detector with edge-on illuminated detector elements.

Direct photon conversion detector

The invention relates to a method for producing a radiation detector used to detect ionizing radiation including a first inorganic-organic halide Perovskite material () as a direct converter material and/or as a scintillator material in a detector layer and to a radiation detector comprising a detector layer () produced by means of the steps of the method. Method for producing a radiation detector and radiation detector

The invention relates to a combined imaging detector () for the detection of x-ray and gamma quanta. The combined imaging detector () is adapted for simultaneous detection of gamma and x-ray quanta. The combined imaging detector () includes an x-ray anti-scatter grid (), a layer of x-ray scintillator elements (), a first photodetector array (), a layer of gamma scintillator elements (), and a second photodetector array () that are arranged in a stacked configuration along a radiation-receiving direction (). Photon counting X-ray detector

A radiation detector for combined detection of low-energy radiation quanta and high-energy radiation quanta has a multi-layered structure. A rear scintillator layer () is configured to emit a burst of scintillation photons responsive to a high-energy radiation quantum being absorbed by the rear scintillator layer (). A rear photosensor layer () attached to a back side of the rear scintillator layer () is configured to detect scintillation photons generated in the rear scintillator layer (). A front scintillator layer () arranged in front of the rear scintillator layer () opposite the rear photosensor layer () is configured to emit a burst of scintillation photons responsive to a low-energy radiation quantumbeing absorbed by the front scintillator layer (). A front photosensor layer () attached to a front side of the front scintillator layer () opposite the rear scintillator layer () is configured to detect scintillation photons generated in the front scintillator layer (). The high-energy radiation quantum is a gamma ray and the low-energy radiation quantum is an X-ray.

Radiation detector for combined detection of low-energy radiation quanta and high-energy radiation quanta

A whole body SPECT system () includes a patient support () and a static gantry () which includes a plurality of rings () of radiation detectors (). The patient support () supports a patient and moves the patient in an axial direction () through the static gantry (). One or more processors () connected to the plurality of detectors records strikes of gamma photons in the radiation detectors () and reconstruct the recorded strikes of the gamma photons into a whole body image.

Whole-body SPECT system

The invention relates to a characterization apparatus () for characterizing scintillator material () especially for a PET detector. A first radiation source () irradiates the scintillator material with first radiation () having a wavelength being smaller than 450 nm. Then, a second radiation source () irradiates the scintillator material with pulsed second radiation () having a wavelength being larger than 600 nm and having a pulse duration being equal to or smaller than 50 s, wherein a detection device () detects third radiation () from the scintillator material () during and/or after the irradiation by the second radiation. The third radiation depends on the amount of charge carriers trapped at electronic defects of the scintillator material such that it can be used as an indicator for the amount of electronic defects and hence for characterizing the scintillator material. This characterization can be performed relatively fast and in a relatively simple way.

Characterization apparatus for characterizing scintillator material

The present invention relates to a direct conversion radiation detector for wherein the direct conversion material comprises a garnet with a composition of Z(AlGa)O:Ce, wherein Z is Lu, Gd, Y, Tb or combinations thereof and wherein y is equal to or greater than x; and preferably Z comprises Gd. Suitable garnets directly convert radiation, such as x-rays or gamma-rays, into electronic signals. Preferably photoluminescence of the garnet is low or absent. The detector is particularly suitable for use in x-ray imaging devices, such as computed tomography. In some embodiments photoluminescence of garnets might be used to construct a hybrid direct-indirect conversion detector, which may be particularly suitable for use with Time-of-Flight PET.
