Propylene-based terpolymers composition for pipes

Molding compositions made from a high-molecular-weight propylene polymer with a melt mass-flow rate MFR of from 0.3 to 1 g/10 min, to ISO 1133 at 230&#xb0; C. and 5 kg, and with a proportion of &#x3b2; modification crystallites in the range from 2 to 20% by weight. The molding compositions of the invention preferably comprise a quinarcidone pigment as nucleating agent. The high-molecular-weight propylene polymer used preferably comprises a high-molecular-weight propylene copolymer with up to 30% by weight of other copolymerized olefins having up to 10 carbon atoms. One of the uses of the molding compositions of the invention is as materials for pipes.

Propylene polymers containing from 0 to 2.5% by weight of C -C -olefin comonomers have an M of from 350,000 to 1,000,000 g/mol, an M /M of from 4 to 10, a proportion by weight of the polymer fraction having a viscosity number of from 500 to 1400 ml/g of from 20 to 80% of the total polymer and a proportion by weight of a polymer fraction having a viscosity number of from 200 to 400 ml/g of from 80 to 20% of the total polymer and an isotactic sequence length of from 50 to 100.

The invention relates to a high-molecular-weight copolymer comprising ethylene and propylene units which has an ethylene content in the range from 1 to 10% by weight, a melt flow rate MFR (230/5) of <5 dg/min and a molecular-weight distribution M /M in the range from 6 to 20. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the copolymer in the presence of a catalyst, an organoaluminum compound (B) and an organosilicon compound (C), in which the polymerization is carried out in two reaction steps, where the suspension medium in the first step is simultaneously the monomer, and a polypropylene having a viscosity of from 500 to 1400 ml/g which makes up a proportion of from 20 to 80% of the total polymer is prepared in the first reaction step.

High-molecular-weight polypropylene having a broad molecular-weight distribution

A gaseous mixture of steam and air, a gaseous mixture of steam and nitrogen, or pure steam are passed around polyolefin granules in a deodorizing apparatus. The result is that the polyolefin granules have markedly improved properties with respect to odor and taste, and these are retained in moldings produced from the granules.
