There is disclosed a conversion circuit arrangement for switching digital data signals between data terminals operating with different data transmission procedures. The circuit arrangement adapted for use with an electronic data switching system is composed of at least two interface circuits having input/output converting networks. External terminals of these interface circuits are connected to respective input/output means of the switching system for each type of data terminal. Internal input/output terminals of the interface circuits are connected to respective terminals of a storage unit. There is provided a control unit for controlling data transmission between the interface circuits and the storage unit and vice versa such that messages are buffered in the storage unit. The stored message is converted according to the data transmission procedure of the receiving data terminal.

Conversion circuit arrangement and method for switching digital encoded

A circuit arrangement is provided for the transmission of digital signals between transmitting and/or receiving stations which operate with differing data transmission procedures and with different data formats. The signal transmission respectively occurs by way of a converter unit which, like the transmitting and receiving installations, is connected to a switching system. In the train of the transmission of digital signals from a transmitting installation operating with a lower data transmission rate to a receiving installation operating with a higher data transmission rate, the digital signals emitted by the appertaining transmitting installation are first collected in the converter unit in order to be emitted to the appertaining receiving installation only given the existence of a sufficient plurality of such signals. The transmission of digital signals from a transmitting installation operating with a higher data transmission rate to a receiving installation operating with a lower transmission rate occurs in data blocks. A respective plurality of data signals forming a block or, respectively, a signal group, is emitted together with a signal group end mark by the appertaining transmitting installation to the converter unit which then relays the digital signals to the appertaining receiving installation. In order to minimize control expense, the converter unit checks its signal acceptance capability upon the occurrence of the group end mark. Only given existence of a sufficient signal acceptance capability in the converter unit is an acknowledgment character emitted to the transmitting installation, the acknowledgment character then causing the transmission of signals forming a further signal group or block. The invention is preferably employed for signal transmission between telex stations and office printergram or teletex stations.

A circuit arrangement for scanning the character elements of characters, respectively occurring within a prescribed duration, at arbitrarily determinable points, in particular for the correction of teletypewriter characters by means of scanning the individual character elements with the aid of scanning pulses output by an impulse generator, the scanning pulses being fed to a scanning circuit together with the individual character elements, provides that in the impulse generator a pulse-controlled multi-stage register is provided whose output side is connected to its input side by way of an adder circuit. The adder provides that the code words contained in the register can respectively be altered by a prescribed value with every pulse actuation. A memory, in the form of a programmable read only memory, is provided and has its input side connected to the output of the register, or of the adder circuit, and contains stored controlled signals in specified fixed storage locations which can be actuated by the code words of the register, or of the adder circuit. With the actuation of the respective storage locations, beginning after the start of a character has been determined, the control signals contained in the memory locations are caused to output impulses from the output side of the memory, which pulses are utilized as the desired scanning pulses.
