A radial roller bearing, in particular a single-track ball roller bearing, which has an outer bearing ring with an inner groove track, an inner bearing ring with an outer groove track and ball rollers, which are disposed parallel to one another and held in a peripheral direction at even distances from one another by a plastic bearing cage, that roll between the bearing rings in the groove tracks. Each roller has two lateral surfaces that are flattened symmetrically from a spherical base form and a defined axial tilting clearance. The cage has two axially separated, pocketed cage halves which can be assembled in a positive-fitted, form-locked or integral fashion by opposing connecting elements.

A plastic snap cage for radial ball bearings includes thin-walled cup-like pocket elements spaced about the circumference and connected with each other in one piece through ribs, thereby forming pockets that are open in the axial direction to receive the balls. The radially inwardly and/or the radially outwardly extending boundary edge of the pockets is rounded in accordance with a selected rounding radius R.

In this way, a cage (,) is created that allows almost no axial and no radial offset between the two ends (,) of the cage but permits an exactly defined displacement of the cage ends (,) in both peripheral directions.

A bearing assembly for supporting a shaft without play, in particular for use with a steering shaft in a steering column, includes a plurality of needle-like rollers that are circumscribed by a thin-walled, split bush for elastically loading the rollers in radial direction. Fitted about the bush is an elastic ring that applies a preload on the bush and has at least one peripheral surface formed with neighboring ridges of relatively greater radial dimension and relatively smaller radial dimension in alternating relationship.
