An apparatus for fastening an end of a spring steel strip subjected to high tension. The end of the spring steel strip is clamped positively between two flat surfaces of two retainers in different positions, ensuring absolute security against loosening. For this purpose, the strip end is placed positively in an insert that is freely displaceable between the retainers and is clamped together with this insert between the retainers. The insert has transverse blades on its side facing away from the strip end, with which blades it engages the adjoining retainer positively, and thus in a displacement-proof manner, in the clamped state.

An adjusting device for automatically compensating for cable strand elongation in a vehicle parking brake utilizes a rotatable disc cam having a circumferential edge which spirals radially out to effect a displacement of a cable yoke in a cable tensioning direction as slack develops in a cable strand of the parking brake. The disc cam is tensioned by a torsion spring, the entire device having a small number of parts and high operational reliability even when dirty.

In a quick-action connection for retaining an insertion part in an orifice of a carrier, for example a holding nipple in a body wall, there is, in a peripheral groove of a tenon-shaped extension piece of the insertion part, a retaining ring resiliently flexible in the radial direction, which has its largest diameter in the inserted state of the insertion part. The retaining ring partially projects beyond the periphery of the extension piece and is supported on the carrier by means of one of its end faces. So that the retaining ring is capable of guaranteeing a reliable mutual connection of the two parts, even when bending moments are exerted on the insertion part inserted into the carrier orifice with a clearance fit, its annular shell is closed in the peripheral direction and extends in the form of a meander. As a result of this ring design, the retaining ring can be compressed radially in order to introduce the insertion part into the carrier orifice, and after insertion it automatically springs open again. At the same time, by means of its continuously closed and therefore axially rigid annular shell, it is supported on the carrier on the one hand and on the insertion part on the other hand.

The application relates to a lockable and releasable pedal mounting arrangement for a foot-operated parking brake of a motor vehicle, which mounting is fastened to a cowl column in the driver's foot space in the junction region of a dashboard cowl and pivotable out of the foot space about a pedal pivot under the effect of a rearward deformation of the cowl as the result of an accident so that there is little adverse effect on the inner safety of the vehicle.
