The invention utilizes the adhesive properties which plastic material exhibits while still hot combined with a multi stage molding operation wherein one side of an insert or core located in one side of a mold is coated with molten plastic on a first closing of the mold, the mold is then opened with the plastic still hot to remove the insert or core from the one mold side by virtue of its adherence by the hot plastic to the other mold side, a second charge of plastic is then introduced into the said one mold side and the mold is closed again with the plastic in a molten state to complete the encapsulation of the insert or core.

Plastic molding process and products produced thereby

A reusable and returnable container system for packaging, shipping and displaying goods comprises a tote having an opening in a bottom surface and an upper opening. The opening in the bottom surface has an abutment for supporting a tray inside the tote. The tote is preferably stackable and nestable with like totes. The tray is adapted to carry goods and is insertable into the tote for resting on the abutment. The tote is easily separated from the tray without first removing the goods. Each tray can be transferred to a shelf for displaying the goods for selection by consumers. After the tray has been emptied, each tray can be stored in a stack of nested totes for returning for re-use.

Reusable packaging, shipping and display system

A novel industrial pallet for use in supporting and moving goods, engageable by conventional forklift trucks, comprises an upper platform, one or more lower planar reinforcements and cylindrical spacers therebetween, defining a space suitable for access of the forks of a forklift truck from all sides. Some or all of the components are made of thermoplastic-type materials, so that the structures can be economically and simply made by friction welding (e.g. spin/vibration welding). Alternatively, a thermoplastic material may be positioned between components, to act as a thermoplastic glue of respective parts on friction welding.

Industrial pallets and methods of manufacture of panel structures

Scrap plastic materials including thermoplastic and cured thermosetting components are recycled and molded into products of predetermined shape, without the necessity of separating the different plastics from one another, by a process of shredding and milling the mixture to reduce it to a fine particle size, homogenizing the fine particle size mixture into a free flowing macro homogenous powder form, warming the homogenized mixture to an elevated temperature but at which it maintains its free flowing condition, dry blending the warm mixture with a reinforcing material or a filler and then compression molding the blend at elevated temperatures and pressures into a product of pre-determined shape.
